CHAPTER TWENTY - NINE

Looking straight at me was the office, a feeling of dread filled the core of my body. taking a deep breath i placed my shaking hand on the door handle, I looked behind me to see both Jay and Rosie looking at me. they both nodded at me as a silent way to tell me I could do this. Turning the handle i opened the door. nothing had really changed, the files my grandfather always had on his desk was there. However, the feeling of the room was off because I knew the room was now lacking in the presence of someone.

it was like the room knew what had went down, I couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, the others noticed it too. " Any one else getting the feeling someone is watching our every move?" Rosie stated while moving around the room looking at everything to see if a camera of some sort had been secretly placed. she was greeted with nothing. I just made my way over to the desk, i picked up one of the files that was on top.

AGENT 2340: MISSING NO EVIDINCE FOUND. NAME: MARY.

I gasped. Jay made his way over from one of the filing cabinets and took a look at the paper I was holding in my hands. his eyes widened, " why would he be looking through these? you said he already knew they was behind this so what is so important about their files?" Rosie's head picked up at this and she picked up more of the papers on the table. holding up another we read it as Jacks file, why was he so keen on their missing files?

" maybe he was trying to find if they left any clues he could point out to another Agent to catch them?" looking through all the files i saw it was all the agents that was missing. something in my brain clicked and I knew what he was doing." No, he was trying to figure out who else was behind this. look all these Agents are missing. he has the file of Amanda and your mum jay. we know about Amanda working with them he was correct about that. Look unlike her file on the system this has information he found and what he did. "I said while holding up Rosie's girlfriends file. I saw jay look confused while holding his mothers file.

Rosie had walked over to the computer near one of the cabinets and typed in Amanda's details, i moved closer to Jay and placed my hand on his arm, " hey, what's wrong?" he just shook his head, and handed me his mothers file. looking over it i saw some of the notes my grandfather had written.

AGENT 1098 - MISSING, CLOSE WITH MARY AND JACK, TRAINED WITH MEL. TROUBLES WITH HUSBAND.

" what if my mother was working with them? She is at home thinking she got away with it while you lost your grandfather because of these people." his tone was so disappointed and he looked pale like he was going to pass out with the thought that his mother was a bad guy. I shook my head and lifted his chin up so he would be looking at me," no. I don't think your mother is working with them. my grandfather must of been looking for leads and would take whatever he could. if it makes you feel better we can ask her if she even knows anything." he nodded. picking up the files that was placed on his desk to take back to mine and Jays room, i didn't want anyone coming in here and taking them as then we would have nothing to follow up. " Lace, you might wanna look at this." in Rosie's hand was a note. not just any note but a note threating my grandfather.

Jack and Mary was smart they didn't type it or handwrite it, they used old articles letters. to spell out.

This is the letter they used to threaten him to keep quite. this was clearly after my mother and father left the agency, He must of hated the fact that they helped him drive away his daughter so he must of tried to get them caught, resulting in them threatening to kill us. " they threatened him?" Jay stated looking over the letter over and over again. I nodded, " they also threated my mother when she was pregnant with me. this would of been after they left the agency so i wouldn't be harmed and i could have a normal life, he told me how much he missed my mum when she left. he might of tried to catch them more desperately this time resulting in him getting threated and stopping him from exposing them."

we all decided we had got the information we needed and took everything we found in the office and made our way back to our room. we wanted to discuss there so no one would hear and so Jay could speak to his mum to prove himself wrong. I didn't believe his mum was behind this but instead of leaving it too late and getting fucked over again it would just be better to confront her up front, like I did to my mother.

"Why did they threaten your mum lacey?" Rosie said whiling closing the mini fridge in the room and taking out a bottle of water. Jay was overlooking all the evidence we had right now and was combining them all into little notes that would be easy to get information out of immediately if needed. making my way over to the snack draw i had near my bed i took out some cookies because i knew we was going to be working through this for a while. " my mum found them red handed. she went to my grandfather about it however, he told her not to tell anyone and to drop it, i don't know what they told him just yet but it made him scared to expose them. my mum hated how they was going to getting away with it and ended up leaving as she fell pregnant with me and decided she didn't want me to deal with this life if the people who in the wrong can get away with it, they also threatened to kill me if she did expose them"

" i should call my mum and try and see if we can cut her off the leads or not." we both nodded at him and sat in silence while he put the phone to his ear.

" hey mum. i have some questions i need to ask you."
