Chapter 28. I unlove you

Sometimes, before you start loving someone from core of your heart, you need to unlove the one whom your heart once belonged to.

"Alaia..." a voice whispered, and I walked ahead, feeling dazed. The numerous number of almost white trees sorrounded my vision. They stared at me like silent sentries.

The clouds above oozed and billowed across the awakening sun, casting the meadowy into a shadowy darkness.
The inky indigo sky, covered in tattered curtains of cloud. The pathway looked pale and cold, grey in colour.

I took small strides and walked ahead aimlessly.

Just then, a figure appeared in front of me, dressed in white button down shirt. I stopped in my tracks. Squinting my eyes, I gazed at his face.

I froze.

" Ian..." I whispered, feeling goosebumps all around my body.

He smiled softly and took baby steps towards me. My breath hitched when he came near me, I felt him towering over me.

I felt his cold breath on my forehead, I looked up at him who was staring intently at me, with a serene smile playing on his lips.

" Moon..." he whispered, caressing my cheeks with tip of his thumb and I shuddered.

I stood there rooted in my spot, I felt tears roll down my cheeks and bowed my head down.

"Shh.... Don't cry, please " he murmured, wiping my tears away, softly.

I lifted my arms to touch his pale face, for a moment, I thought that he was just an illusion who would fade away as soon as I touch him.

But instead of vanishing in air, he smiled softly at me. I gasped audibly when he held my palms and wiped my tears with the other one. His touch gave me shivers, his hands looked pale and cold.

" I will still not be able to pay for these precious pearls." he whispered while I bowed my head down and more tears rolled down my cheeks, landing on the ground.

" Moon..."

I looked up from my tear stricken face only to directly meet his eyes, my breath hitched for a moment, seeing the intensity in them.

" I am sorry." He mumbled and bowed his head down. I frowned.

" I know I cheated on you..." he took a deep breath and continued, " but I genuinely loved you. " Tears brimmed in corner of his eyes.

I shut my eyes as more tears fell down as I recalled those dreadful moments, something that changed my life forever.

" and I also know that you love Ashton " I heard him murmur, I gazed down, unable to meet his eyes.

I felt a cold touch on my chin, I shuddered at the contact. He made me look up at him, particularly his eyes, my hazel eyes met with his ocean blue ones.

" Hey, " He whispered, " There is nothing wrong. Infact, I am happy. I am happy that you are moving on from me." He said with a smile, although I couldn't express it but deep inside it made me happy.

" Did you know, how much it had hurt me when I saw you so emotionless. " he muttered and I bit my lips to not sob.

He cupped my face gently and wiped that stray drop of tear from my cheekbone. I sniffled and looked at him, red eyed.
