"Hello, my name is Christina. Did you know Lucille?" The woman asked, her green eyes gently gazing at me. "Uh, no actually, I got an invitation yesterday in the mail." I replied, smiling slightly. Her eyes seemed to light up.
"I didn't know her either! In fact, the same thing happened to me. I just randomly got the invitation." She replied, we smiled and giggled. I felt drawn to her, almost as if I knew her. There was no way I knew her though, I'd never seen her before.
"I know this sounds strange" She said, pushing a strand of brown hair out of her face and tucking it neatly behind her ear. "But I feel like I've met you before. I know that is impossible since I've never met you , but I feel like I have." She said, almost as if she had been reading my mind. I laughed.
"I was thinking the exact same thing" I said, we chatted for a few moments, then the host, asked us all to come sit around in a circle. I didn't recognize any of the people here, yet I felt oddly drawn to them. Just as I had with Christina.
"Thank you all for coming, I'm sure Lucielle would be most apprecative." A woman, in her 60's said. I assumed it was this Lucille person's mom. "I will be asking you all to leave, in half an hour. Please talk amongst yourselves. And God bless you" The woman said, leaving.
"Well that was abrubt" A man said, causing us to giggle. There were 20 of us here, but 13 of them had left, and were up and wondering around. "I know this is strange.." A man said, before being cut off by a woman who said, "But I feel like I know you guys." She finished. We all nodded.
"My name is Joyce. I am 24" I said, then we all went in a circle stating our names and ages. Christina 23, Chase 26, Susan 21, Carrie 25, Simon 23, and Luke 27. We didn't have a clue who each other was, but at the same time we knew everything about one another, as if we'd been friends for years.
"Well I better get g--" I said, before hearing a loud sound. I turned around and saw a brick on the ground. Chase came up beside me, and picked it up. "I must've knocked it out of place, when I ran my hand against the side of the wall" I said, mentally urging Chase to put it back. I suddenly had this feeling of dread, I didn't know exactly why, but I had a feeling that it had to do with that brick.
"Hey! Look at this guys!" Chase said, dropping the brick again, and unfolding an old piece of paper. It looked as if whoever had folded it, was in an hurry, since it was not neatly folded or even creased in all the places.
"Well, what does it say?" Carrie asked, by now we were all standing in a circle, looking and waiting for Chase to tell us what the paper held. "listen to this" Chase said, reciting from the paper. We all looked around at eachother in confusion, and Chase passed the paper around so we could all read it. It said,
Christina, Chase, Carrie, Susan, Joyce, Simon, and Luke.
By the time you read this, I will be long gone. I know you have many questions, and I know that those who stand before you seem like friends. You feel as though you know them, and you do. I will not tell you how or why you know them, you will have to find out that for yourself. I'll give you a hint though: Crazy Eights. I know, it isn't much. But in time it will be. I have drawn a map on the back of this paper for your convenience. Follow it, and you will find your childhood memories, and secrets that have been locked away and forgotten for nearly a decade.
Best of wishes,
Lucielle
None of us knew what the letter meant, but we all agreed we had to follow the map.
