Chapter Ten:
I moaned as the aggravating beeping continued. I rolled over in my bed only to be greeted with a strong ray of sunlight in the eyes.
I hissed in pain and rolled over, slamming my hand into the annoying alarm clock.
The clock cracked and split and the table moaned from the pressure as I quickly jumped out of bed.
"Oh shit!" I said as I looked at my hands. Had I done that? My thoughts wondered back to what had happened last night.
You're stronger now, Alicia's words echoed in my mind. I looked over at the mirror and touched the blazing blue pendant that hung below.
It swirled and pulsed into a soft green before mellowing out into a dark lavender. I smiled at the beauty of it. I had never had something so pretty before. I looked up and into my new eyes. They sparkled a blazing green at me, and I felt something deep inside me stir as well. I reached for it, only to have a soft head brush against my palm.
Welcome, she purred. I smiled, but then stopped. How was this happening? This couldn't be real.
But I had felt her, the panther inside of me. And I had shifted. But, wasn't I supposed to be human?
I sighed, giving up. There was no one here to give me answers and all these questions were just giving me a headache. I looked back at my now broken clock and gasped.
I'm gonna be late! It was already 6:50 and school started into thirty minutes and I still hadn't taken a shower or eaten or . . . did I have homework?
Calm down, I heard Alicia whisper.
I jumped. Stop that! Give me a warning next time you feel the need to mind-talk to me would you?
I could almost hear the eye roll in her voice. It's called a mind link and you should already be used to this. How are you doing this morning?
Besides freaking out cause I'm going to be late, fine, perfectly fine! I said as I ran around my apartment. I grabbed a towel and I turned the shower on tugging off my clothes as I went.
Chill, you know we are on a block schedule right? Kind of like college?
I stopped, my shirt halfway off my head. What?
Yeah, our first class isn't going to start until 9 so you have three hours. Alicia said. I pulled the shirt off and walked into the shower.
Really? I thought aggravated, wondering what I could do for the next three hours.

Three hours later I was walking into the locker room, wondering where this had been all my life.
Even the locker room looks like something you would find in a palace or in some extremely decked out resort. The lockers ran all the way to the floor and were made from a glittering black granite with a tiny silver key pad on the right hand side. The floors were made of a stone like marble and there were small crushed velvet and white wood couches dotted around the large room.
"Come on!" Alicia said as she pulled my hand towards one of the locker rows. "Let's get ready!" She chirped excitedly.
"Why are you so excited?" I asked as I went and punched in my assigned numbers for my locker.
