Chapter Sixteen:
Damon’s POV:
I paced the room, my anger beginning to boil out of my grasp of control as I felt the distance between us grow larger and larger by the second.
Where was she? How was she doing? Was she safe? Why hadn’t she wanted to stay? Why had she agreed so easily? Why did I even agree so easily again?
You shouldn’t have let the vampires take her, my panther huffed agitatedly.
Shut it, I snapped back. I flexed my clawed hands and pushed for them to retract, but to no avail, I was still too angry.
I need to calm down. . . I chanted over and over again in my head as I felt my power beginning to spiral out of my grasp. I have never lost control like this, never in my two million years of existence . . . but now, because of her?
She’s our soul mate, we need her, just like she needs us. My other half pushed as he rubbed against the walls of my control. We must to go to her.
No, we-
I was cut off from my inner turmoil when my phone started to buzz in my pocket. I retracted my claws carefully as I reached for my phone, eagerly hoping it might be Skyler.
“Yes?”
“I take it that things are going well?” I heard my Father’s secretary ask.
I swallowed a growl from bursting through my lips. I so dearly hated this man. Why father kept him around, I would never understand.
“Everything is just dandy, Felix.” I answered back curtly, more than ready to get off the phone knowing that it wasn’t Skyler on the other end.
“Ahh, but from the sound of things, it appears as if you're having great difficulty wooing the girl.” Felix purred back.
“It’s been two days, Felix. Why don't you call back when a manageable amount of time has passed.” I spat as I walked over to my apartment window and stared down at the surrounding forest that circled the small city, wondering where my Skyler has disappeared to.
“But time, my dear boy, is something you don’t have control over. In fact, there seems to be many things you don't seem to have a handle on.” Felix giggled, and I felt fingers of cold disdain wrap slowly around me.
“Really? And what, pre tell, might I not have control over?” I asked casually back as a slow fear began to worm its way inside of me.
“Apparently the Girl of Legend is in the hands of the Vampires. Might I ask how that has occurred?” Felix pushed, a low rumble rolled through me as I picked up the toying smirk in his voice.
“She’s not my slave, Felix. If she’s going to come to me, it needs to be of her own free will, or else the bonding will not work.”
“I know. I was just expecting a little more caveman action from you though,” Felix sighed unhappily on the other line. “It’s not like this is all new to you, just brain wash her and sleep with her.”
I remained silent, not really knowing how to reply to that.
“Oh come on, you’ve pulled that strategy countless times before, what’s so different about this time?” Felix purred once again, obviously enjoying himself.
“Let me speak with Father,” I commanded feeling tired of putting up with Felix’s shit.
“Ooo, so harsh,” Felix giggled. “One moment please.”
