A few days later
Harsha's POV
I poked Madhu on the arm. In a few days we've become good friends.
"Why does Sneha hate me so much?" I asked.
"She doesn't hate you, she's avoiding you," she replied.
"Why should she avoid me? Is it because of what I said to her mom? But that's long over."
"It's not that," Masdhu said. Her smile fell. "You probably remind her of Amrita, you act exactly like her."
"Amrita..." I asked, waiting for her to explain.
"Amrita...Amrita was Sneha's best friend, well all of our best friend. She passed away....a few months ago. Sneha's a little surprised by you that's all, you seem to trigger her memories."
"Ahh I didn't know that. I'm sorry about...Amrita," I said, the name lingering in my lips.
"Should I go talk to her?" Madhu shook her head.
"Not now, she needs time. She'll talk to you eventually."
I nodded slowly. I turned my head and saw Shiva walking towards me.
"Ahem..I'm going to go to the restroom real quick," and left hurriedly. Madhu nodded and said she had to leave anyways.A hand fell on my shoulder, and pulled me to face the owner, before I could reach the restroom.
I gave an innocent smile, to see him standing before me.
"Hi," I said quietly.
"Are you avoiding me?"
I pointed at myself. "Me? Of course not, or else I wouldn't be standing right here would I?" I smiled like a kid.
"Can I go?" I asked.
"I'll come with you."
"Where, to the girl's restroom?" I said, smirking now.
"I thought that was an excuse to get away from me."
I scratched the back of my neck. It was an excuse, but then you caught me and then it wasn't an excuse anymore.
"It wasn't an excuse," I partially lied.
"Then I'll wait here."Shiva's POV
I stood near the hallway, smiling to myself. Anand walked next to me.
"I'd love it if you can explain what terms you and Harsha are on. I can't handle any more of this."
"Who told you to handle it?" I told him.
"No, it's just been so many years, and I was going to be happy that you finally figured it out, but it seems more complicated than ever. I can't tell if you two are actually serious, flirting or being really idotic" he said sarcastically. I glared at him slightly.
"Hmm, I don't know either. I feel like we've accepted each other in some way, but haven't actually clarified it. I like it though, it feels more liberating."
"That kind of sounds like you'll leave her after a few weeks." I really glared at him this time.
"It's hard to explain," I said in the end.
"Uh huh, are you going to clarify things with her or..."
"I want her to do it, she was waiting for me to give her a hint and I've done it. She has to tell me now"
"Rrrighht, well I'll leave now she's coming."
Harhsa walked back, shaking her hands to dry the water.
"Is there anything you want to tell me?" she asked. I shook my head slowly.
"You have to."
"I don't have anything to..." I looked at her eyes. She broke the gaze and cleared her throat.
"Tell me, don't avoid my eyes."
She scratched her head.
"Uh I..." I held her jaw and moved her head to me.
"You..." I initiated, looking. She pushed away my hand.
"I'm moving back. Dad's job is fine now"
My smile disappeared.
I ran my fingers through my hair, and closed my eyes.
"I didn't think this would happen so early."
Harsha came closer.
"You said you'd wait for me."
"What if something happens like you said?" She shook her head and forced a smile.
"There's nothing we can do about it."
"When do you leave?"
"Tomorrow."
"And you tell me now."
"I didn't know until yesterday. It was all too sudden."
"It's not the first time we've been apart."A/N: Technically they could ask for each other's number and text, talk, and so on. For the sake of the story to progress, and for the dramatic stuff, we're going to completely ignore that. To put it logically, phones aren't allowed in school so the only way to get numbers would be at home. And if it was at home, everyone would know (since they're neighbors). They could get it at the bus stop but let's just say they were so emotionally affected they weren't even thinking of it. Or to put it bluntly and simply, they were just really stupid 😃
