Shiva's POV
"Tin-ti-dan-tin..." The end of the school bell rang. Everyone ran out. Some who had umbrellas, others that were trying their best to cross to the bus stop dry. It was drizzling a little too hard.

Harsha stood before us. Looking down at the puddle below, umbrella in one hand. She walked a few feet to the side, then looked again. There was water everywhere. I suppressed my smile.

"What are you doing?" I asked, going next to her.
She jolted a little from the sudden voice.
"I was finding a way to get across without getting myself drenched."
I pushed out my hand. She looked at me confused.
"Umbrella."
She moved her umbrella to herself and held it tightly.
"Absolutely no. I hate getting wet in the rain."
"It's not 4 pm yet. Plus I went easy on you, the only thing I asked you to do was get food."
"Like 4 times running down 2 sets of stairs, a huge ground and across the street.
I pushed out my hand further. She sighed in frustration, and put the umbrella to my hand a little too harshly.
"You are going to make me go in the rain?"
I stepped down and started walking away, I turned back.
"No, you can just stay there if you want."
She frowned.
"Can you come back? I'll walk with you," Harsha yelled.
I shook my head smiling. I stopped midway from the school, and gestured to her to come forward.
She mumbled in frustration.
Her face scrunched up as she stepped into the puddle. Then with one of her two hands over her head, she ran.
Once she reached under the umbrella, she held the handle and tried to take it away.
Little drops of water clung to her face. One of them dropped down her nose, and the other on the chin. There were some on her li--
"Give me the umbrella," she almost growled, "I can't believe you made me run in the rain."
I broke out of the trance.
"I thought girls like to run around when it's raining."
"Ha," she laughed shortly, "You've been watching way too many Indian movies. I love rain but I hate it when I have to run through it."
I turned to the direction of the school gates and started walking. She ran next to me to get under the umbrella.
"Give me the umbrella," she said again.
"It's big enough to hold both of us. You said you wanted to walk with me"
"I gave you a chance before. Now that you made me run in the rain, I do not want to walk together."
"You might want to stop, there's still a good 10 mins to 4 pm. Unless you don't want to stay dry the rest of the way, keep on complaining."
She huffed, and stopped talking.
Her arm brushed against mine.
I smiled to myself.
There's something fun about arguing with her. It's cute like Anand said. Truly, I'm agreeing with it, but I'm not ready to face the truth yet.
We reached the bus stop and I gave her umbrella back. She smiled as she took it away from me as if she was getting a best friend back.

We were best friends then.
What are we now?

(Day 2?)
Harsha's POV
I pulled forward the backpack again. The last time it was this heavy, it was five years ago.
Exactly why do they make us hold every book on the planet?
"Hi" Keshav's voice cut in.
"Hi," I said blandly.
"Are you ignoring Shiva?"
I looked back where Shiva and Anand walked far behind.
"Keshav, let's do something. I'll help you make Sneha jealous but you don't need to do your part."
"Why? Do you not like him anymore?"
She laughed sarcastically.
"Honestly, I don't even know at this point. I'm so confused." Pause.
"Even if I love him, will I ever get to be with him happily. Society is going to stab me with words."
Keshav stayed silent.
"And at this point, I'm agreeing with Anand, will one minute go without us fighting."
"So you disagreed before."
"That's not the point."
"You said it wasn't a big deal, both of you are a little...competitive I guess"
"It's complicated and I can't explain it in one chapter," (Lol breaking the fourth wall here).

Shiva's POV
"You're telling me, you guys like each other but can't stand each other at the same time" Anand said with confusion
"It's a little hard for me to understand too."
"You get jealous when she's talking with Keshav, I'm pretty sure you like her more than you hate her," he reasoned.
I sighed.
"I don't know what's going on. I act without thinking when I'm around her then beat myself up for doing it after."
"I'm pretty sure you like her more, you're just a little aggressive."
"It's not just me."
"Figure it out yourself, I'm not going to be advising anymore."
