Chapter 14: Yakap sa dilimI woke up in my bed, with curtains opened and the light of the sun is hitting my face warmly.
I don't know why but it sends me the vibes of change.
this is it, right?
Finally, I can say that I'm feeling happy. I smile and sighed tiredly. Parang gusto ko pang matulog, pero may schedule ako ngayon— wait.
Napaupo ako bigla bago inilinga ang ulo sa paligid. I saw the clock besides my bed, on my study table. It says it's already 7:30 am.
Woah. No one knocked on my door? Did my Mom agreed? As far as I can remember, after I told her that I want to be free, I passed out.
I got up from my bed and decided to take a morning shower.
There's something that really changed. I can't point it out but I'm certain that something changed.
Am I really free?
----
The breakfast was savory. Ang sarap ng ulam namin ngayon. Or is it because of the fact that my Mom cooked it for me?
It's been years since the last time my Mom cooked for me.
“Are you done?” She asked. I nodded my head eagerly. Lumapit siya sa'kin at kinuha ang pinagkainan ko bago iyon inilagay sa lababo. She walked back towards the kitchen top where I am seated at.
“I'm really sorry, Eurydice,” She whispered and and pulled me into a soft hug.
With that, I wanted to be emotional but I chose not to. It's a bit sad that she's doing this because I agreed about the marriage and not because she loves me and she's my Mother.
But it's still a good thing, right?
“Oh, by the way, your friends called you last night, may outing daw kayo. Celebration for completing your performance task daw,” She caress my hair and swayed our bodies like kids, nanggigigil. Natawa ako ng bahagya. I remembered that she likes doing this with us when we're still kids.
“Papayag ka po ba?” I asked and looked up to see her reaction. I don't know why, but I don't feel awkward with my Mom, kahit pa biglaan ang pagiging sweet at clingy niya.
“Yes, of course. Wala ka nang schedule eh, you're free to do what you want but still,” she stared at me. “you should know your limitations and boundaries, okay?” She said in a calm way.
I sighed and closed my eyes, nodding lightly, cherishing the moment.
I miss this, I really do...
“Sige na, magbihis ka na, mga gabi na raw kayo makakauwi. Go, pack your things na.” She ushered me.
I nodded my head and gave her my most genuine and grateful smile. I turned my back and started walking but I halt midways when I forgot something.
“Thank you po...” lingon ko. “Mi.” I continued. Nakita kong nanlaki ang mata niya sa gulat. I don't know if I'm hallucinating but I saw how her eyes watered, pero hindi ko na iyon natingnan ng maayos dahil tumalikod na ako.

My phone beeped. I opened it and read the message in my inbox.
