Chapter 12: Angel babyFriendship...
The sun's shining with its golden hue while I sit under the tree's canopy. The rays of the sun are passing through, kissing my pale skin. I am silently sitting on a white bench near the school's gate, watching other students pass by as their noise mixed with the calm bristling sound of the leaves.
A late afternoon calming vibes.
The field in front of me is filled with students. Either playing games, or walking. Some are laughing, singing, dancing, while I saw a few practicing something.
The place where I am seated is shaded with the tree's shadows, and on the back of my bench is the school's pavements, where some students are seen walking.
My phone vibrated. I instantly saw Samantha's message asking where I am.
‘I'm near the school's pavements, on the second bench.’ I replied.
I shove my phone back and breathe in some air as a thought linger on my mind.
I wonder what friendship feels like.
“Hi, good afternoon!” Samantha appeared besides me. She's not wearing our school uniform but instead, she's wearing a white v-neck shirt and a black skirt, hugging her curves.
“Good afternoon.” I replied with a small smile. That's a basic manner.
“Gosh. Did you wait long?” She placed her things down on the bench before sitting besides me with a loud and tired sigh.
“Nope.” I answered. She heave another sigh in relief.
“Kapagod talaga maging SSG member. Gosh,” Samantha mumbled while massaging her sore feet.
I kept quiet as I close my eyes, leaning my neck on the back of the bench as the flickering golden lights shined on my face. I breathe in some air, smelling the natural scent of nature.
Then we both sighed in the same time.
I blink to adjust my sight for a bit as I cherished how the wind touch my skin, making my loose hair sway lightly.
“I noticed that you're always wearing headsets,” she said, making my head tilt to her direction.
“Huh?”
“Is that one of your ways to escape?” she asked quietly.
I don't get it. I furrowed my brows, looking at her with confusion.
“You really looked like someone.” She whispered, not enough to reach my ears.
I tilt my head a bit. “What?” Umiling lang siya bago pagod na tumingala sa langit. Hindi na lang ulit ako nagtanong. We stayed silent.
‘Bakit ang tagal nila Velasquez?’ I wanted to ask that so I look at her direction. Before I could open my mouth, I noticed how she looks.
Sam's looking up, with tears forming on the edge of her eyes. My heart throbbed. I can feel the sadness rushing in her being. She's looking different from the joyous Samantha everyone had known. I saw how she stopped herself from crying. Mahina siyang tumawa bago mabilis na pinunasan ang mga luhang namumuo sa kaniyang mga mata.
“Are... Are you okay?” I didn't had the time to processed what I said. It was unlikely of me to ask someone like that.
It's like the question pulled the trigger. The wind was like a lullaby. Singing, as tears started pooling on the corners of her eyes. I stared at how she hide her face inside her palms.
