This was so awkward.

I met Sasha in Social Studies class. She was my partner for a project we had to do. When we got to the cafeteria after class, she noticed I was staring at Amelia and dragged me over to sit with them.

"Anyways, I'm going to go too. Bye," Amelia announced abruptly. She glanced at me one last time and walked away quickly.

"Well that was awkward," Sasha said while eating.

I sighed. I looked around the cafeteria to try and find Backpack Boy but I didn't see him anywhere.

Sasha asked, "Are you looking for someone?"

"What? No! I'm just looking around," I gulped. Then, I noticed the guy named Noah from before at the back of the room. "Hey, who's that? Is he in our grade?"

Sasha turned to look at him. "Oh, that's Noah Wilson. Total bad boy vibes. He's actually pretty close with Amelia. I think they have been friends since they were little. Why?"

"It's nothing. He just seemed interesting, that's all."

A few minutes later, Backpack Boy walked into the cafeteria. I gasped.

Sasha looked up from her food. "What? What is it?"

I didn't answer her as I watched Spencer get his food. He looked around the cafeteria and our eyes met.

Sasha noticed and giggled amusingly from beside me. "Hey Spencer! Over here!"

OMG!

"Wait, what are you doing?" I cried.

"Trust me on this."

Spencer walked over and sat down. "Hey, how's your ankle?"

I looked up slowly and gazed into his brown eyes. "Much better than before. Thanks."

He smiled at me. "That's good. Do you want to go eat after school to thank me for taking such good care of you?"

Sasha burst out laughing and we both looked at her. "And that's my cue. I'm going to go to my locker... or something. I'll see you in class, Lauren." She took her tray and hurried away, grinning.

How could she? But did Spencer really just ask me to go eat with him after school? Is this a date?

"So what do you say? I know a really good pizza place," Spencer said.

I paused. "Yeah, that'll be great, thanks."

"Okay! I'll meet you after school and we can walk there. It's not too far away."

"Perfect," I beamed.
