The one class I had with Amelia was PE. I also had it with Spencer, Noah, Sasha, and Esme. I had just finished changing into the gym uniform when Noah walked over to me, with something in his hand.

"Hey, I got this for you. Drink it," he said, handing me a carton of chocolate milk. Did he remember me telling Spencer I liked chocolate more than regular milk?

"Oh. Thanks Noah." Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Sasha and Spencer watching us.

Someone from behind grabbed the milk carton out of Noah's hand. It was Esme.

"Are you crazy, Noah!? Why would you do this in front of everyone?" hissed Esme.

"Esme, what are you talking about?" asked Noah, flustered.

Esme threw the milk on the floor. Luckily, it didn't burst. I bent over to pick it up but Noah grabbed my arm, stopping me.

"Esme, what are you doing?" Noah glared at her.

Esme flipped her hair over her shoulder, looking agitated. Then, she looked me in the eye. "Listen up, Lauren. I get that you're new here but you should know the girl code. Don't mess with a guy you know someone else likes. Amelia, she can be so naive at times. Did she really think you weren't flirting with both Noah and Spencer? Grow up, we can all tell what your game is."

I blurted, "I have no game!" At this point, both Sasha and Spencer had walked up to us and the other classmates crowded around.

"Right. Nobody just purposely flirts with two guys at the same time. It's like you don't even care how you're hurting so many people in the process. You should know your place here by now," Esme retorted, narrowing her eyes.

Sasha stepped forward. "Have you gone insane?"

Esme kept her eyes on me. "You are nothing. And you will always be nothing."

Spencer grabbed her arm and pulled her away from me, whispering aggressively to her.

Noah looked at me and apologized. "Sorry, she doesn't know what she's saying."

Esme glared at him after he said that. "Noah Wilson. Can you not tell someone under your very own nose has liked you forever? You're just going to ruin your relationship with her to go for this... this nobody?"

I gulped. I had to defend myself, I just had to. "I might be a nobody to you but I know who I am. I didn't purposely flirt with anyone. I don't even know who you're talking about. The girl who likes Noah? No clue. So stop talking if you have nothing good to say."

Sasha started clapping slowly and then she began to cheer. "Go, girl!"

Esme and I stared into each other's eyes. What was happening? What were we doing?
