It had been two months and I had gotten into a steady rhythm of school and after school activities.
Spencer and I had gotten a lot closer and now he even has a nickname for me.
Clumsy.
One day, I was working at my part-time job when my boss brought in a new employee.
"This is Noah. He'll be working the same shifts as you. Noah, this is Lauren," my employer John declared.
Noah. Amelia's close friend. This was not good. I can not associate with people that were close with Amelia.
"Hi," I said softly.
Noah put on an apron and waved quickly. He followed John around the shop and I dodged his eyes, looking around the shop quickly.
He finished his training really quickly and then was put on cleaning duty.
"You go to Moon Peak High too, right? I've seen you around," he commented. I nodded quickly.
"I remember on the first day Amelia yelled at you in the nurses' room. I'll apologize for her."
I smiled slightly, "Oh. That's okay. Thanks."
Noah looked at the ceiling, like he was inspecting it. "Amelia. She's really tough but when you get to know her, she's nice and funny."
"That's cool."
"Do you know her from somewhere else though? She wouldn't just explode on someone she didn't know," Noah added, his eyes meeting mine.
"Oh. I've just seen her in school. I mean... everyone knows her around here."
I hated lying but it was the only option I had right now.
