Then I Met You | Lee Jeno

6~ An Eventful Night

"Hi Yuri," that voice said.

Yuri turned around to see the man she has been avoiding for the past four years. It was the voice she dreaded hearing. The warm smile on her face was long gone and instead it was replaced with an expression full of pain, anger and resentment. There he was standing before her in all glory.

"J-Jaehyun.." Yuri whispered. "How are you Yuri?" Jaehyun asked, smug visible on his face. Jisung lunged forward ready to punch him but Yuri held him back. She composed herself and replied him professionally, "It's Ms.Park for you Mr.Jung."

The air around them thickened. The group could sense the tensed atmosphere. Whoever he was, Jeno did not like his behavior even a bit. It was visible how Yuri was uncomfortable just by his presence. 

Jaehyun cocked his eyebrow at Yuri's reply. "Is that so Ms.Park Yuri. I thought we were closer than that," he said mockingly. Yuri was disgusted by him but still managed to pull a resting and unbothered face. 

"No. We aren't close Mr.Jung," she said in a stern voice. Johnny and Jisung wanted to intervene but they also wanted Yuri to fight her own battle, to overcome the pain. 

Jaehyun scoffed at her reply, "Anyway, Hello, myself Jung Jaehyun. CEO of Jung Pharmaceuticals," he introduced himself and held out his hand. 

Yuri stared at his hand. She declined his  offer and went ahead introducing herself, "Hello Mr.Jung, myself Ms.Park Yuri, CEO of Park Yu&Ji Incorporation." Jaehyun could feel his pride being hurt. He stared at his rejected hand. His tongue intuitively went to poke his inner cheeks out of annoyance. 

He scoffed and said, "It's a pleasure to meet you again," and smiled. "Can't say the same Mr.Jung," Yuri replied back. 

Jaehyun stepped forward as Yuri stepped back but a hand on her back stopped her. She turned around to see Jeno facing head straight to Jaehyun, "I guess you should leave now Mr.Jung," Jeno said. 

He held a stiff gaze on Jaehyun and no doubt it ticked off the latter. Jeno standing up for Yuri was something so uncalled for. They met an hour ago but still he did not hold himself back from standing up for her. 

Jaehyun scoffed and moved his eyes to Yuri once again. "I hope to meet you soon again, Ms.park," he said cockily. "I hope I don't," Yuri said calmly. "We'll see," he smirked and left. 

Yuri's heart was beating erratically. She herself doesn't know how she managed to reply him but she did. 

Jisung immediately approached Yuri, "Yuri, you good?" "I'm good Jwi. Don't worry." she assured him. "Tell me when you want to leave, we'll leave okay?"Jisung said. Yuri nodded in agreement. Jisung turned around to face Jeno. "Thankyou to you too Mr.Lee," he said. 

Jeno waved his hand, "No need to thank me. I could see that Yuri was uncomfortable and you can call me Jeno. I don't mind," Jeno said and gave him a comforting smile. 

"The audacity he had to come here and talk, tsk. What more can we expect from him anyway," Johnny said, clearly annoyed by the previous event. 

"Johnny wasn't that our junior?" Taeyong asked. "Yes it was him," he replied. "Wait- you guys know him?" Jisung asked in a surprised tone. Johnny nodded him head. "We do. He was our junior in highschool. Guess things never change," he said. 

Yuri was quiet throughout the conversation. Jeno just observed her. "Excuse me, I'll be back," Yuri said as she was about to excuse herself. "Do you want me to come? You can take Iseul with you," Jisung said to which Iseul nodded. 

Yuri declined the offer, "No it's okay don't worry. I'll be back. I have my phone with me. I'll call if I need something," she assured. 

Yuri excused herself from the group and went near the balcony. She was welcomed with a cool gust of wind as soon as she entered the balcony. The chaos on her mind shortly came to an abrupt stop.  Never before like today she felt satisfied with herself.
