Then I Met You | Lee Jeno

18~ Love is...

Jeno was extremely delighted with how the Park's had agreed to the proposition. He wanted to talk about it to someone and it was none other than his older brother, Taeyong. 

Without any hesitation, Jeno dialed his brother's number. A raspy voice was heard from the other end of the receiver. 

"Hello? Who's this?" A sleepy Taeyong mumbled in english. "Huh? Don't you have your younger brother's number?" Jeno replied back in Korean. 

Hearing a familiar voice Taeyong sat up straight in his bed. He checked the time and it was 2 in the morning. Concerned by the sudden phone call, he started questioning Jeno. 

"Oh Jeno? What happened is everything alright? Are mom and dad okay? Are you ok?" he asked. 

"OKAYYY. Calm down, relax, okay brother everyone is doing good here nothing to worry. Maybe I'll just call you back in the morning," Jeno replied. 

"Man you scared the hell out of me. I awake now. We can talk now," the elder retorted. "What is it?" he asked. 

"Well.... you know the overture I offered to the Park's?" Jeno asked and received a hum as a sign to continue. "They were impressed with it and would like to sign a contract," the younger informed. 

A grin spread on Taeyong's face, being proud of his younger brother's achievement. "Oooiii Oiii, Congratulation young man! You did great. I'm proud of you!" he hyped him up. 

"Thankyou bro. I just hope everything goes smoothly," Jeno replied softly. " Ayy, it will! And finally you can spend some extra time with Yuri~" the elder teased.  

A faint yet visible tint of blush appeared on Jeno's face as a result of Taeyong's teasing. "Ahh stop it! I haven't even had a nice talk with her," Jeno replied timidly. "Don't worry, you will get a lot more chances now," the older teased again. 

"But you know what? I was about to close the file and I saw a sticky note with a "Welcome Onboard :)" on it. And I swear that did something to me. Was it the same for you when you fell in love with Mi Sun noona?" Jeno timidly quizzed. 

Taeyong was slightly taken back by the younger's question. Jeno never asked questions like these after he broke up with his ex. He totally abandoned the 'dating' and relationships agenda and solely focused on the company unlike other normal people at his age. 

Taeyong cleared his as he proceeded to speak.

"Well my dear, little yet grown up Jeno, love is different for everyone. For some its healing while for some its pain. For some its an escape from reality while for some it's a poignant truth. Love is dangerous yet so beautiful. It is scary yet so euphoric. 

When I first saw Mi Sun in the highschool she wasn't among the queenka's nor was she from the quiet girls who stay cooped up in the library. Mi Sun was a prankster, an accurate interpretation of a goofball. And you know one day she was going to prank one of her friend who used to be my deskmate by filling his phone storage with her pictures. But instead of taking his phone she accidentally took mine and clicked around 1000 selfies with weird faces. 

And when I confronted her, you know what she said?-"

"What?" Jeno questioned. 

"She legit was like she gasped super dramatically and said 'OMG, someone has the same face like me. Definitely that someone is trying to set me up, let me just find out-' she said this and ran away. I was literally standing there dumbfounded. But that odd incident made my heart beat so fast. At the exact moment I knew, I developed a crush on her. The next day she came back to me asking to delete her pictures but I placed a condition in front of her, I wanted to know her name in exchange of the pics. She was so confused, I still remember the face she pulled when I asked her name. But that was the actual start to everything.

I saw her mature over the years. Even if her goofiness simmered down the years, I know she still has that part of her which only pops out in front of me. 

Like I said, love is different for everyone. For me, Mi Sun's love was like sunshine through the rainy storm. I struggled a lot when I was learning about the in and outs of the company. I honestly thought I will go insane at one point but her effervescent personality kept me sane. I knew that after an exhausting day, I just needed a hug from her and her joyful 'Welcome Home' was something I will always look forward to at the end of the day, that's the reason why I did not hesitate to 'pop' the question. 

Love comes knocking your door at a very unexpected moment, it's just upon you whether you want to open the door and welcome it with an open heart or you just choose to ignore it. If you really find Yuri interesting, then get to know her more and by knowing her I don't mean her favorite color or her favorite beverage. Get to know how something made her smile, something that made her cry, something that she can never forget. Make your move Jeno, it's your time to be happy now brother," the elder concluded. 

Jeno heaved a sigh and whistled, "That was deep and somewhat cheesy. You're so whipped for Mi Sun noona but that's actually lowkey adorable. A love story like yours is so beautiful.  I hope things work out for me."

"They definitely will, like I said, its on you whether to open the door or ignore the knockings," Taeyong replied as he yawned. "I'll go back to sleep now Jeno. I'll call you back one I wake up."

"Sure, goodnight hyung!"Jeno replied and the phone call came to an end. 

Jeno sat back on his seat, thinking about the words Taeyong said. Thoughts in deep, only one thing came to his mind. 

Love is strange...
