I sit silently on my bed, staring out into the cold night through the window. I couldn't sleep, and I was afraid to wake Katy up, maybe she'd sing me to sleep like she does to herself... sometimes.

I flopped down on my bed, sighing. Today sucked and I dread seeing what tomorrow will be like. I uncomfortably shifted onto my side. I silently sighed and ran my fingers through my hair that lay uncomfortably in face. My arm felt as if it was going to fall off at any second, so I quietly put it down. "Go to sleep Tess," I said to myself. "Go to sleep and you'll feel fine."

I don't remember what happened after that. It's a to pain try and remember.

"Get up, lazy head." Katy's voice echoed through the room as I felt a sudden soft blow to my back.

"Gimme five more minutes please." I grumbled.

"Nuh uh. We have to get going now!" Another blow to my back. I turned around and grabbed the pillow out of her hands and cradled it in my arms.

"Where?" My voice cracked. She started yanking my arm, giggling.

"No time to explain! Just pack a backpack filled with comfortable clothing." She dragged me out of bed and I fell to the floor with a thump. I tried getting up, but I was tangled in a mess of covers. I called her name, asking for answers but I heard nothing. She probably already left the room.

"Alright," I sighed, rolling out of the covers. I walked over to the dresser and started putting stuff together. She said comfortable clothing, so old tee-shirts and sweatpants will do. I grabbed a rather faded floral backpack and started stuffing stuff in there. I'm so damn confused. What's this all about? Are we going somewhere, like into the wild? Ha, I'd love to see Katy in the woods, screaming when she sees a snake or stubbing her toe on a rock.

Soon enough my backpack was stuffed with clothing and other crap that I put together. I changed out of my 'oversized shirt nightgown' and into camo shorts and a gray hoodie. "Hurry up Tess! We don't have all day!" Katy yelled.

"I'm coming," I sighed, slipping some already tied sneakers. God I am the laziest person ever, I don't even bother to retie my shoes. I grabbed my bag and left my room towards the staircase. I quickly walked down, nearly tripping on the last step. "What's up?" I asked raising an eyebrow at Katy who rushed by with a huge ass cooler.

"Get in the car!" She called back. I chuckled under my breath. I walked towards the front hall and then left the house. The sunlight blinded my eyes and I groaned quietly.

I banged against the car door. I hope I didn't deny the car. I quickly checked. Nope, we're all good. I opened the door and stepped inside. Katy was already there, ready to go. A whole bunch of supplies covered the backseat, so I threw my backpack back there. "Can you now tell me where we're going?"

She ignored me and started the car.

I started nudging her arm. "Mom, please, it's about time I know."

She looked at me and rose a brow. "You can wait until we get there, don't worry." She said with a hint of a laugh in her voice. "It's a 45 minute drive, so you may want to get comfy." Katy winked and pulled out of the driveway.

This girl really has a bunch of crazy plans up her sleeve.

45 minutes felt like years. But we finally reached a small clearing that had a campground overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I see now, she's taking me camping.

But there are more than one car parked in the lot. One's a black SUV and looks exactly like Paula Kovach's car.

"Avery," I whispered. She's here. Did Katy plan for this?
