A/N:
Wow, this has been such a long time since I updated and I feel horrible. x.x I got so distracted and held my story off until 2016. Here's the chapter I promised back in June even though it's super short. And I'll be updating more frequently, Woo! Again, super sorry for the long wait!

"What's this about?" I asked slightly confused as I followed Ann up the stairs to the second floor.

"You'll see." She winked. I felt like a kid just before Christmas morning, waiting to open Santa's presents. She opened the door to Lauren's old room and stepped inside, beckoning me to follow her. I entered the cold and rather empty feeling of Lauren Payton's bedroom. Everything was left how it was before with the One Direction posters covering every inch of her wall.

Ann walked over to the end table, rummaging through her items. "Lauren never kept her room clean, maybe I should clean it... Just to keep my mind busy." She sighed. I bit my lip, looking up at her.

"I'm sorry, you didn't deserve this. Good people shouldn't have bad things happen to them." I replied, tapping my foot nervously.

Ann turned towards me, holding a small black book. "Oh Tess, you always know how to say the right things." She gave a weak smile, which nearly killed me inside. But I had a feeling that she was faking this, just to make me pity her and then she'd take all my money.

"Right," I cleared my throat. "What's that?"

"Lauren's diary."

My eyebrow rose slightly as she spoke those words. Why would Ann want me to have some diary? I wouldn't want to read what Lauren's deepest secrets are. God knows what kind of sexy thoughts with Niall Horan in them. "Ann, I don't know if I can accept this gift."

The woman shook her head. "No, it isn't a gift. It's me forcing you to take this diary so I can't snoop into her personal life." Wow, how rude. I literally wanted to tell her off for that remark, but I decided against it.

"Okay then," I said awkwardly, taking the book from her hands. "Thanks, I guess?"

She just shrugged in response and left the room. I let out a deep sigh as I looked one last time at Lauren's room. "Goodbye." I whispered as I left the room. I made my way downstairs, locking eyes with Katy. She frowned slightly and I gave her a small nod. Just as I was about to pass her, she grabbed my shoulder.

"We're going home." She said rather annoyed. I bit my lip, tilting my head slightly.

"So soon? Mom I-"

"Please Tess. This place has such a bad vibe and I don't think it's healthy for you." Katy pleaded, tightening her grip.

"Okay," I responded, watching her as her arms wrap around me. She guided me towards the door where a small black car was waiting with John in the driver's seat. Katy climbed into the front, while I climbed into the backseat.

We drove home in silence. No one spoke a word, which kind of scared me but I was too scared to start a conversation. I closed my eyes and leaned back into the seat, exhausted from emotional pain it seemed. The car stopped after a bit and my eyes snapped open. We were home, finally. I sighed in relief as I stepped out of the car. I looked over as John and Katy got out, making me smile a little. I walked inside the house and began walking upstairs.

"Going up so soon?" John called out from downstairs with a slight chuckle.

"Yeah, I just need some sleep. I hope you understand!" I giggled as I made my way into my room. I didn't even bother changing out of my clothes as I flopped onto the bed. I guess I'll be sleeping in a dress tonight! Just kidding. I threw on the pajamas that were already lying on the bed from last night and lay down. I stared at the ceiling once more before closing my eyes and I could have sworn I could see two brown eyes staring at me as I fell asleep.
