Penelope POV

      Hope, Josie, and I all stay in our room and everyone leaves to get ready for the flight back to Mystic Falls. Josie doesn't have anything to pack so she just sits on the bed zoning out. "Hey, princess?" Josie looks up. "Yeah?" "What did Alex do to Valerie that made her hate her so much?'

    I stop packing to listen to Josie's answer. "Well, you know how Valerie is a heretic. She was actually a part of a whole coven of heretics. There was Nora Hildegard who was dating another heretic in the coven. Her name was Mary Louise. Then there was Beau, Malcolm, Oscar, and of course Valerie." I nod at her words. I knew there were more heretics since Mr. Smith started the unit before I left the school. "Oscar was killed by Valerie. Malcolm was killed by Damon Salvatore. Beau was killed by Rayna Cruz."

    "What about the other two?" Hope asks as we're both invested in what Josie has to say. "Mary Louise was killed in a car explosion and Nora was killed by Valerie." "Wow, Valerie killed two of her coven members. But none of them died by Alex, so why does she hate her so much?"

   "She hates Alex so much because it started with her. Before Nora and Mary Louise died, they were held captive by the Armory for 3 years. They kept the couple separate and they experimented on Mary Louise. Alex gave her pills made of Rayna Cruz's blood. The result was horrible. Alex had poisoned her with no remorse and blackmailed Nora into working for them with the promise that she'd get Mary Louise back." 

   "Damn, Alex sounds like a bitch," Hope says. I just nod. "Just wait, it gets worse. Alex told Nora that if she brought Enzo St. John to her, she would let Mary Louise go and she would cure her. So Nora went out and found Enzo. But when she met him they made a deal. Nora would bring Alex to him and then he would talk to her from there. The plan worked but at that same time, Stefan who was marked by Rayna Cruz also came to the same place that Enzo, Alex, Nora, and Mary Louise were."

    Jo takes a breath. "By the time Nora found Mary Louise, Rayna had stabbed Stefan so she was looking for any vampire. She had found the couple and she threw her sword into their car. It got stuck in their car and they started driving away. Nora had been marked and when Mary Louise saw she started siphoning the sword." I gasp. "Why would she do that?" "She didn't want Nora to have to spend the rest of her life running." "Yeah, but wouldn't that kill her?' "She was already dying. The pills that Alex gave her poisoned her and there was no cure. So she wanted to use the last of her strength to save Nora. But once Nora knew what she was going to do, she also started siphoning from the sword. They siphoned it until the hellstone shattered. But the impact of doing that exploded the car with both women in it."

     "Mary Lousie died instantly but Nora survived until Valerie found them. She found Nora holding the broken body of Mary Lou. She helped Nora out of the wreckage but Nora was so miserable that she begged Valerie to kill her to end her pain. In the end, Valerie couldn't watch Nora so she gave in. She killed Nora to end her misery." "Wow." "That's not it. Alexander and Reigna the two kids that Alex is currently holding captive are the adoptive children of Nora and Mary Louise." 

     "So she's about to end the whole family. We need to stop her." "I can't wait to kill her." Josie and I look at Hope and she just shrugs. "I was just kidding." Riiight. I roll my eyes and continue packing. Everyone meets in the courtyard and we all get into Alaric's car and we drive to the airport.

  (Time jump to when they get to Mystic Falls.)

     By the time we get to Mystic Falls, it's already nighttime. We all enter the school and go our separate ways. Hope, Josie, and I go to our old room. Lizzie goes to her room, Caroline and Alaric go into their own separate rooms, and Valerie and Rebekah share a guest room. We all go to sleep to rest up before we head to the Armory the next day. 

   I'm cuddled next to Josie with Hope spooning us both. I make sure Hope's asleep so that she has enough sleep before I fall asleep. We wake up the next morning and start getting ready silently. We meet up with the rest at Alaric's car again.

    We all pile into the car and we drive wordlessly to the Armory. "Everyone, ready?" Valerie asks. We all answer with yes and we open the car door and swarm out. We run into guards immediately and start fighting.
