Chapter five

It had been three days since I have been staying at Cassie's place, it was a bit crowded since we stayed in the same room, but I felt very at home, I didn't miss my apartment at all. Colby and I had been texting and we had plans to see each other today, he said he wanted to take me out for dinner, I was pretty excited to be quite honest.

I made my way out of Cass's bed and began my morning. She had went out last night again, and texted me that Brennen met up with her, so I assumed that she slept at his place. My phone chimed as I began getting undressed to shower, I rolled my eyes, expecting it to be Wren again, he just couldn't leave me alone. I guess he knew Cass could get in my head.

Colby: what're you doing?

iris😉: just about to shower, how about you?

Colby: tell me, how adventurous are you?

iris😉: i'd say pretty adventurous, why?

Colby: Sam and Kat and I are heading out on a bit of an adventure, wanna come? We can hit dinner after.

iris😉: what exactly is this adventure?

Colby: exploring an abandoned asylum
If you get scared i can hold your hand, dont worry :)

iris😉: i dont scare that easily, count me in

Colby: great, whats your address so we can pick you up?

iris😉: 273 fourth street

Colby: text you when we're on our way ;) oh and i forgot to ask, you wouldn't mind being in our youtube video? We're going there to film a video for our youtube channel.

iris😉: i dont mind. But you never told me you have a youtube channel

Colby: oh yeah..not something I bring up usually, I forgot! See you soon.

I stood in front of Cass's bed room mirror, looking at my leggings and black shirt outfit, I rolled my eyes, "This is the best i can do for an outing like this.." I picked up my phone and realized he'd texted me he was here three minutes ago, I rushed to grab my purse and hurried out the door. Hoping they weren't impatient.

I walked down to see a red corolla, Colby sitting alone in the front seat, I made my way to the car awkwardly and Colby motioned for me to sit in the front, I opened the door and seated myself.
"Hi Iris!" Kat smiled as I turned to her, "Hello, hi Sam." I spoke confidently, and Sam shot me a smile too. I then turned to look at Colby, he was already softly smiling, his blue eyes pulling me in again,
"hi.." I spoke very softly, "Hi." he mumbled, we both held our small smiles, both of us distracted by each other, Sam cleared his throat, "We should get going."
"Oh yea.." Colby chuckled, turning to the road, he began pulling away from Cassie's apartment block, I needed to stop calling it that, it was my new house.

"So..how far is this place?" I asked curiously as Colby pulled onto the highway. "About an hour and a half, two hours.." Sam replied from behind me,
"Do you like car rides..?" Colby turned to gaze at me for a moment, turning his head back quickly,
"I love them, as long as there's good music.."
"Here, take my phone, go through my playlist, tell me what you think.." He handed me his phone without looking, I took it from his hand and he mumbled me his password, allowing me to unlock it. I began scrolling through his apple music, hoping he had some similar taste to me. My eyes widened at his playlist, I was very impressed, chase Atlantic, blackbear, lil peep, nirvana, pierce the veil, sleeping with sirens, i turned to him for a moment, man I didn't think he could get more attractive than he already was, and he just did. Colby turned to me, "See anything you like?" i nodded, "everything.." I looked back down at the phone nervously,
"Sam and Kat, you guys like lil peep?"
"Of course, throw one of his songs on." Kat answered from the backseat. I clicked on white tee and the speakers began playing loudly. Colby's hand slowly made its way on my thigh, holding it lightly, I turned my head to look out the window, mumbling the lyrics to the song.

"So tell us about yourself Iris. What do you do?" Kat asked me further into the drive. I looked back at her, "I'm mainly a video editor at a company, I have a lot of youtube creators who are my clients and companies for ads." Kat nodded, "Im impressed, whose videos do you edit? Are we allowed to ask that?" Sam asked now, I nodded, "I've done some Jeffree stars videos, some for mr beast, James Charles, my ex boyfriend Wren..."
"ex boyfriend Wren. Like Wren hill?" Colby looked at me, I nodded, I didn't think Colby would know him. "Wait, I think i've seen you before! On his youtube channel." Kat exclaimed, "Not my proudest moment." I sighed, hoping someone would change the topic soon, after all he wasn't even my ex boyfriend just yet. "When did you two breakup?" Kat asked, not changing the topic at all,
"A few months ago." I mumbled, "Oh, okay. So did you move to L.A or have you always lived here?" I felt a sense of relief fly over me at the sudden change of topic, Wren was the last thing I wanted to talk about, especially in front of Colby.
"I moved here for College.." I responded.
"What about you?" I asked in return, Kat grinned widely, "She's Canadian!" Sam grinned too, "She eats poutine and says eh." He added with a laugh, Kat rolled her eyes, "So you work in editing and stuff and never heard of Colby and I?" He asked,
"Honestly I probably have..I just don't remember.."
"Ah Colby she didn't see you and get heart-struck." Sam grabbed his chest and chuckled, Kat joined in, "That's too bad you were never interested in our content, yet here you are joining us." Colby pointed out and I shook my head, "I like abandoned buildings, I used to do this back home in New York but I will definitely be watching your videos now."
Colby smirked to himself as his eyes stayed on the road, his hand gripping on my thigh a bit more tightly now. He began to pull over into a parking lot, and my glance turned out the window, looking at the open field. "The asylums a bit further, so we're going by foot." He spoke as he unbuckled his seat belt.
"You ready?" He grinned, I nodded, "Are you?"
"I do this every week. So fuck yeah." He smiled widely. I unbuckled my seatbelt and stepped out of the car, staring out at the field again, excited for what was ahead. Not just for the asylum but for what was ahead with these new found friendships.
