Chapter twenty three

"So Colby finally gets a cool lady friend which means I get to come on more explorations..?!" Katrina looked back at Colby from the front seat, he shrugged, "I guess so.."
"You're awesome Izzy." I smiled widely at her compliment, "yes I am."
Colby's gaze looked to mine and he shrugged, "You're like okay..." He then grinned making me roll my eyes. My phone then rang loudly in my lap, my eyes looking down at the screen.

Wren is calling..

I sighed to myself, my eyes then met Colby's and he mumbled to me, "Pick it up, tell him you're busy."
I shook my head, "Not a good idea.."
"Tell who you're busy?" Sam asked, his eyes looking at mine through the rearview mirror,
"Nobody important." I replied.
Colby's head turned to look out the window and my phone now vibrated with messages.

Wren: you can never just pick up the phone can you?

Wren: I'm calling Cassie, let's see if you're true to your word.

Well, at least he didn't call me names this time.
My phone vibrated again now.

Cassie<3: Wren called, I said you're in the shower, you better make some time for me so you can fill me in on what's been going on with you. Plus I miss you.

Iris💖: im sorry cass. Thanks for having my back, it's been interesting, let's go out tomorrow once I finish editing.

Cassie<3: you're welcome.

I shut my phone off, glad to have Cassie as a friend, I guess Colbs was right, it would be nice to be able to do what I want, when I want..especially stuff with him. "You okay?" Colby quietly whispered to me and I nodded, "Great. And you?"
He grinned, nodding, "Great."

The rest of the ride was quiet except for some small jokes, the windows were all rolled down and my hair was flowing, it was nice to have moments like these, I finally like I had real friends..life was good, god I feel like I kept saying this but its just so unbelievable to me, after everything i've been through, it feels nice to be somewhat at peace.

Once at the abandoned waterslides, Sam and Colby got their bags from the trunk and we began sprinting into the woods, finding our way in.

"Can we slide down the slides..?" I asked as we walked into the old rusty park. Colby nodded at me, "Heck ya, might get your ass dirty though.."
"How about climbing down then?" I pursed my lips, Colby nodded. I followed the group as they walked towards a specific place. Colby turned himself towards me as he walked backwards, a small smile plastered on his face, "You wanna have our own fun?" I furrowed my eyebrows, "Dont wanna stay with the group?" He shook his head as he stopped walking, reaching for my hand, "Come on. We'll be back guys, call me if there's anything!" He shouted out as he began tugging me the other way.

He stopped at a very tall staircase, I looked up, the staircase led to a very tall blue waterslide, it led to a huge bowl looking like thing...I looked over at him and he grinned, "Still wanna climb one?" I nodded nervously and Colby's grip on my hand got tighter as we began making our way up the stairs.
After a decently long time we got up, the blue waterslide still making me nervous, I looked over the ledge, we had to be at least 50 feet high.
"Im kinda nervous, I'm not sure why.." I admitted, he smiled at me, "That's okay, we can go back down if you want.." I shook my head, "Lets do it.."
I took my first step onto the slide, did I forget to mention it had no top? So it was basically just me and my balance keeping me alive..ahah.
I slowly continued to step down and he joined, not too far behind me, I guess to make sure our weight together didn't make it fall all together.
"Be careful Iris, just take a fake step first, I don't want you to fall through or something.." Colby said with worry from behind me, I looked back at him and grinned, "I'll be okay, thanks dad.." He rolled his eyes with a smirk.

"Now this is cool.." I spoke out to him as I made my way into the big bowl, which used to make people spin around it in a tube. "I love this part.." he spoke out, I turned to find him, peeking his head into the bowl as he stepped out.
"I just wish this place had more story to it, if you think about it, it's kind of boring.." He sighed,
"I beg to differ, I think its cool, running down these things, pretending they're giant slides, I mean..the sun is even setting, we could find a high view point and watch it set together.." I disagreed with him and he nodded, "That's a good idea..just you and I? Or Sam and Kat too..?" He raised an eyebrow,
"Maybe just you and me alone.." I turned away from him and stepped further down the slide.
"See now if we were more people i'd say we should play team hide and seek..so we can have some real fun.." I told Colby as I climbed off the waterslide carefully, not to fall into the deep empty pool.
As he jumped off too, he responded,
"That would be so fun.."
"So, any ideas on where to watch the sunset?" I asked him. "Just follow me.." He directed and I did so.

Colby took me to the highest waterslide in the place, it was just a bit taller than the last one, at least I think it was, we both looked over the railing as we looked at the now pink sky.
"So we're doing a good job right?" He asked me, I looked over at him and raised an eyebrow, "huh?"
"At being friends...I like it." He smiled,
"I like it too, but it's only been like, twelve hours.." I chuckled, he nodded, "I know..sorry.."
"Don't apologize Colby, thanks for bringing me here..I liked it a lot.." I looked over at the view again, taking a deep breath. "I'm going to take you to a lot more places than these..trust me Iris. Our adventures have only started.." His words made my heart fall into my stomach, in a good way...I looked over at him again and he was already staring at me, I smiled lightly and he did too, "You're going to make me-" I was interrupted by a nearby voice and we both looked over to Sam and Kat who were now here, "Oh hey, looks like you two had the same idea as us.." Sam chuckled as they made their way in between us, I glanced over at Colby and felt myself get disappointed, I couldn't tell if he was too.
"Great minds think a like.." Kat grinned at me and I smiled at her.
