Axel's apartment looked completely different from what I had imagined. For one thing, it was much cleaner than mine. There were no boxes, magazines, or clothes littered all over the place. It was also more put together than mine was. He'd taken the time to fully furnish the apartment. It was clear that he'd lied about needing an interior decorator; obviously, he only said that to get my number.

All of the furniture matched his contemporary aesthetic. I fell in love with the long, plush sofa he had in his living room. The L-shaped couch spanned the length of the room and stooped much lower than the average sofa. Its quilted pattern also made it look very fluffy and inviting. The couch sat on a rectangular gray-silverish rug, and there was also a simple white coffee table placed in front of it. Across from the couch was a large flat screen TV nestled in between a wall of white shelving units that were filled with various novels, succulents, photos, and modern sculptures. I didn't miss the small, grey chandelier that hung sparkling from the ceiling.

His kitchen was similar in size to mine and shared a space with the dining table. All of the cabinets were a glossy white, matching the fridge. The small center-countertop and backsplash were both a cool gray. Axel had created a dining area by positioning a rectangular glass table to the right of the kitchen countertop. His creative use of the space allowed anyone seated at the six-seater table to look out through the glass wall behind them. I was stunned by how well put-together the place looked, from the gray and black curtains to the shiny, cylindrical hanging lights.

"I'm in love with your place," I gushed, walking over to the glass wall behind his dining table.

I listened to the sound of his bare feet padding across the gray hardwood floor. Axel's arms snaked around my waist, pulling me back into his chest as we both admired the view. I could see the busy traffic of the streets off in the distance. Directly below us was the parking lot of Axel's apartment complex. A few people stepped out of their cars, hurriedly walking to the warmth of the building.

"I'm very lucky to be able to live here," he said quietly. Then, he ducked his head to kiss my bare shoulder. I closed my eyes, savoring the sensation of his lips on my skin. It felt amazing to be wrapped up in his strong arms, inhaling his deliciously overwhelming scent, feeling the warmth of his body against mine. His lips were dangerously soft as they trailed along the crook of my neck, gently peppering kisses up to my jaw. "Are you hungry?" he asked, kissing the soft spot underneath my ear.

I felt a shiver run up my spine, and my head began to spin as his lips locked around my earlobe, gently sucking the soft skin. God, he smelled so sexy. "N-not for food," I breathed shakily, forcing myself to stay upright as I trembled underneath his adept mouth.

A low chuckle reverberated from his chest, and I felt the vibrations tickle my back. "Food first, Meredith. I'm sure you're starving."

He pulled away, and I turned around and followed him back into the kitchen. He was pulling Tupperware containers out of the fridge now, and I watched as he began to open some of the overhead cabinets and pull out white ceramic plates.

"Can I help with anything?" I asked, leaning my elbow on the countertop, my chin resting in my hand as I watched him work.

"Set the table?" He asked, showing me where the silverware was. I grabbed a couple of forks, knives, spoons, plates, and glasses, unsure of what he had prepared for us to eat. After setting them down on the table, I took a seat and watched him microwave the food. He had something heating in the oven too, and while he waited for the food to warm up he collected a handful of candles. Axel walked over to where I was sitting, setting the white candles down on the center of the table before lighting them with a match.
