We take Caden's car to the department store. I tell him that I need to pick up a piece for a client, and then I also let him know that we can pick out some furniture for him too if he wants.

"What would you describe your style as?" I ask him.

He looks over at me, stopping at a red light. "My style?"

"Yeah, for how you envision your home. Are there specific color pallets that you like?"

"Not really. You can do whatever you like with the space. I don't have a good eye for that sort of stuff."

I grin when I think of what I'm about to say. "Did you really want your bedroom to be red?"

"Yeah," he says, looking over at me. His eyes fall to my lips. Mine consequently falls to his, and I decide to quickly lean over and kiss him quick before the light changes.

"You're cute Caden. That's not happening."

"What? Why not?"

"Because it's such an odd color to wake up too, and borderline too dark for you."

"I like dark things."

I smirk. He is the devil. What did I expect? "Well it's time for a little light in your life."

Caden just grins, shaking his head at me. "And you're supposed to be the light of my life?"

"Yup," I respond, popping the "P".

He seems to be thinking about something because he doesn't respond for a while. I turn the radio up, listening to Katy Perry sing. A couple minutes later, he turns the radio down and continues teasing me like nothing happened.

"I thought you were supposed to respect your client's opinions."

"Not when they're stupid."

He laughs. "Very professional Collins."

I wink at him. "Don't forget to leave a review on my website."

"I can just see it now. 2/10 designer, 11/10 in bed."

"Well at least I'm doing something right."

Caden's eyes sparkle in the light, and he moves to put a hand on my thigh. I bite my lip as he briefly squeezes the flesh. His large hands feel so good on my skin. It's almost as if they belong there. Like he is supposed to be mine.

"That you are," he says, breaking up my thoughts.

"And remember you gave me full creative authority, so whatever happens after this point is really your fault."

"Oh I'll make sure to remember that."

Caden turns on the pop station, and I rest back in my seat as he cruises to the store. He keeps his hand on my thigh the whole time, and I let him. Once we park the car I step out, walking to the front of the store.

"Welcome to Lanvel's," I tell him. "My favorite place to go shopping."

He looks up at the giant red Lanvel's sign and back down at me. I think he seems very underwhelmed. Oh well, I told him this was going to be boring. He was the one who insisted on coming even though I know for a fact that he has some work to make up back at the clinic. "C'mon," I tell him. I grab him by the hand and tug him forward, guiding him into the store.

When we set foot inside, Caden spots the three floors worth of merchandise the store has. "Where to first ma'am?" He asks.

My mind flashes to the time I had him call me ma'am in bed, and my cheeks heat up. I hope he doesn't notice. Did he do that on purpose to get a reaction out of me, or was I reading too into things? I let go of Caden's hand, pointing toward the back corner of the store. "I need to buy a mirror."
