I don't know why I agreed to meet Caden for lunch at his clinic, but I did. Maybe some part of my subconscious wanted to spend even more time with him than I already did, which was ridiculous because Caden consumed my life. I think my crush was spiraling out of my control, trying to get me to spend any amount of time with him that I could get. It was probably unhealthy.

I put on an off-the-shoulders black sweater, pairing it with some dark blue skinny jeans. Then I slip on my ankle boots, throw my hair in a ponytail, and walk out the door. I'm supposed to be picking up lunch for the two of us today. Caden wanted Subway, so that's where I'm headed first. Usually, I'm not one for sandwiches, but I'm in the mood today. It's a nice drive to the store, and I make sure to read Caden's order off my phone correctly so I don't mess it up. I've gone for the tuna sandwich, so nothing too special. I pick up a bag of Lays for him and some Sunchips for myself before picking up a Dr. Pepper. With everything in hand, I get in my car and drive to the clinic. Caden works a good twenty minutes away from his house in a small building that reads Manville Veterinary Clinic. Caden Wells DVM is written on the sign outside the building.

I walk in with our bag of lunch and the drink. When I walk up to the secretary, she smiles at me.

"I'm here to see Caden," I tell her.

She nods her head. "First door on the left in the back," she says, pointing to the door next to her.

I thank her for her help before walking through the doors. It turns out that the woman has led me to Caden's very large office. There is a wall of veterinary books behind me, and in front of me is his desk. Behind the desk is a large window that allows a large stream of sunlight indoors.

I take out his sandwich and place it on his desk, leafing out the Lays as well. Then I take out my food and set it down. That's when Caden walks in through the doors.

"They didn't tell me you were here already, sorry," he apologizes smoothly.

I shake my head, telling him not to worry about it. My words die in my throat as I catch sight of him in his doctor's coat. Damn, he looks hot.

"Collins? You good?"

I snap out of it, trying not to blush. I've been blushing a lot more around him lately. "Yeah, I'm fine. Here, come eat your food before you have to start working again."

He comes around the table and sits down, picking up his sandwich. The man takes a healthy bite before speaking. "So what did you do today?"

I sigh. "Some mockups for the Suites. I needed to adjust the materials to fit within budget. And then I was actually handling some of your bedroom furniture."

"Really?"

"Yeah, you officially now have a bookcase and full-length mirror."

Caden grins. "Perfect. Does this mean I'll get to see a bedroom transformation when I get home?"

I laugh. "Yeah, I guess it does. I still have to add a few things here and there, but I'm done for the most part. You'll be paying me generously for my services, I'm sure."

He smirks at me. "Oh I can think of lots of generous ways to pay you. Some of them involve lots of whipped cream and chocolate."

I smirk at him. "Nice try Caden. I know how much I'm worth. Your rich ass can afford to pay up."

He laughs. "Wow, I see how it is. You're only here for the money."

"That's right—only here for the money babe."

He shakes his head, grinning at me. Then he takes a sip of the drink and makes a face. I frown at him.

"What's wrong?"
