If you could take a second to go vote, it would really make my day :)
While Axel's at work, I'm rearranging part of the apartment to accommodate my stuff. I'm not bringing any furniture with me since it came furnished with my apartment. Any furniture I do own is being put into storage thanks to Nick helping me out with the number of a storage facility.
The main thing I'm moving in is clothes, so I have to split half of Axel's walk-in so that I can hang up my stuff. He has a lot of clothes for a guy, so it takes some creativity to make space. Luckily, I've never been lacking in that department. It takes all day, and I panic as I realize I told Rosalie I would meet her for dinner.
"Shit, I'm gonna be late."
I change out of my romper and put on the lacy white lingerie set I just bought. Then I slip on a black bodycon dress and run a comb through my long locks. I don't bother with a lot of makeup—just mascara and blush—before grabbing my purse and keys and heading out the door.
We're meeting at a new restaurant the both of us wanted to try out. It's called Skyscraper. The restaurant is revolving and on the top floor of a skyscraper. The reservations here take months to get: I was the one that had booked this restaurant in the first place. It was supposed to be a 'yay you're back from your honeymoon and I missed you' sort of thing. I didn't want them to give our table up if I showed up late.
I ended up racing through the city, weaving in between traffic like a psycho to get to the restaurant on time. Fortunately, I wasn't pulled over by a cop. That would've cost me a hefty fine. I wasn't normally someone who went over the limit, but today was an exception. I was so excited to see my sister after her having been gone for so long.
Surprisingly, I ended up making it to the restaurant on time. I actually showed up first, so they showed me where our table was while I was alone. We were sitting by the window to the right side of the restaurant. The view was breathtaking. The whole city was just glimmering lights, and the glow of the lights bounced off the river below us. I was so distracted watching the boats go by that I didn't realize Rosalie had made it to the table.
"Hey Mer," she greeted.
I turned in my seat and then scrambled up to hug her, filled with excitement.
She laughed. "Wow, I should leave more often. It'll make you love me more."
"Shut up."
She let go of our embrace and sat down, and I followed suit. Our waiter came out at that moment, and I caught him looking me up and down quickly. He didn't realize I noticed. I didn't say anything as he dropped off our complimentary bread and butter and menus.
"So how was the honeymoon?"
Originally, their honeymoon was supposed to be for two weeks. But then they missed their first flight and couldn't get another one out for another week and a half. That vacation must've racked up a hefty bill. I hadn't seen my sister for a month.
The biggest smile lit up her face. "So good. We got to go cliff jumping, bungee diving, paragliding—"
"You're insane," I tell her. I would do absolutely none of those things on my honeymoon. Swimming maybe, but cliff jumping? A definite no.
"Honestly, it was so much fun. I had the experience of a lifetime with my best friend. I couldn't have asked for anything else. And I know it was stupid of us to miss the first flight home, but I think it was meant to be because Joel and I had so many beautiful moments there. I can't imagine coming back home after only two weeks."
I smile at her. "Well, I'm glad you had so much fun."
"What about you? Tell me what's new with you," she says. "How's work? Are you still seeing Axel?"
