Bryce pulled into the same parking lot as the night before. He circled twice before finding a spot to park in, shut off his car and sat there for a moment. Why am I nervous about walking in there? Am I nuts to do this? What if she's not even here today? Bryce frowned at himself. It wasn't like him to be so hesitant. It's her, he thought to himself. There was something about seeing her again that made him excited and anxious all at the same time. He blew out a breath he didn't realize he held. I can do this. He grabbed his things from the passenger's side and got out of his car. He walked towards the doors, hoping Fate would be on his side for a change.
Sydney took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes. She had been working on the computers for the past hour. She put them back on and looked at the master computer, smiling to herself. Found the problem though, didn't I. She hit the Enter button on the keyboard and sent the system in a reboot. Well, I'll know in 20 minutes if I really did fix the problem. May as well grab some coffee while I wait.
She stepped out of the computer lab and saw Meredith and Audrey behind the reception desk. She walked over and smiled. "I'm pretty sure I fixed the program. It's rebooting now, so in twenty minutes we'll know for sure."
"Well, if the city would stop cutting our budget, we could just update the whole lab." Audrey said as she stood up to talk to Sydney. Her blonde hair in a tight ponytail placing emphasis on her blue grey eyes. Her white tank dress straightening itself out as she stood.
Sydney smiled at her friend. "I know, I know. That's why we're planning that big fundraiser, remember."
"Yeah, I just wish it wasn't necessary."
"Me too, but you know what they say, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade."
Audrey snorted. "Yeah and when you have to play politics add vodka."
Meredith and Sydney both laughed. Sydney walked behind the desk and headed towards her office. "I'm going to grab coffee, anyone else want one?"
"I'll get a vanilla latte if you're buying." Said Meredith.
"Same for me."
Sydney walked into her office to grab her purse, shaking her head at Meredith and Audrey. I love those girls. She was taking money from her wallet when she heard a familiar voice. Her eyes widened. No, it couldn't be...
"Excuse me ladies. I'm looking for someone that works here."
Sydney looked out of her office. Oh shit, she thought to herself, that's the guy from last night. She dropped her wallet back in her purse and headed back out, her stomach fluttering as she walked out.
"May I ask what this pertains to?" Audrey asked.
"Well...this may sound, a bit...strange, but..." Bryce's voice trailed off as he saw her appear from behind the blonde he was talking to. He straightened up and saw those brown eyes behind a pair of glasses. Her hair pulled back into a long ponytail, her dark purple t shirt hugging her chest and barely reaching her jeans resting on her hips. Damn, he thought to himself, this look may be even sexier than last nights. Get it together Bryce.
He smiled brightly at her. "Hi. Do you remember me? I came in late last night..."
Sydney walked around the desk towards him, taking in the sight of him in his baby blue shirt. Almost the same color as his eyes, she thought as she smiled back at him. "Yes, I do. Did you find the address ok?"
"I did, and then remembered that I hadn't say thank you. So, thank you." He grabbed a small bouquet of daisies off the desk and took a step towards her. "And, I suppose sorry too."
