*Mio's POV*

Daya had just left for her date and I'm already bored. I looked through my contacts and found the only person who would probably want to hang out with me right now: Matthew. So I texted him and he said he would come over.

The doorbell rang and as I thought, it was Matthew.

"Nice place, Mio," Matthew took off his jacket and followed me to the living room.

"Thanks! You wanna play Mario Kart on the Wii?" I queried.

We begin to play and every so often he would gently nudge me. After our fifth round, we were both getting bored.

"Do you have any other games?"

I nod, "Sims and Just Dance 4."

"I love Just Dance!" Matthew stands up, stretching. He pulls me up and I stagger on my feet, "I use to play with my sister all the time."

"You have a sister?" I put the game into the system.

"Yeah. She's a freshman now. She says she's to cool to play it with me," Matt laughs, taking a controller.

"Well, I'll be your new dance battle partner!"

I pressed play and we began a head to head game. After a few rounds, we were both tiring out.

"How are you so good? I'm like pro! I beat Daya all the time!" I whine, losing breath.

"Like I said, I have a sister. And I'm much more athletic than you are."

"Excuse me?" I press pause on the game, causing us to stop completely, "I may not be as athletic as you, but I can kill a man in two seconds."

I stepped closer, giving him my famous smirk.

"Is is bad that you're kinda turning me on right now?" He mumbles, setting down the Wii remote.

I laugh and shake my head. I turn to go to the kitchen, but he pulls me towards him.

"Care to demonstrate?"

I smirked and let my hands trail his body, letting them end up at his belt. I roughly pull him closer, our chests touching. I stand on my tippy toes and lean in so close our lips almost touch. I take notice to the freckles on his cheeks and the way his heart is beating fast.

"Nervous, are we?" I whisper, taking a hand and cupping his cheek.

"N-No."

I smile, brushing his lips with mine. Our eyes closed and I end it as quick as it was. I then sauntered over to the kitchen.

I looked over at Matthew behind the island. He just stared at the wall and he gulped.

"That was more than two seconds, Mio."

I laughed, pulling out two glasses and soda.

"But you felt something different right? Your heart skipped beats as I got closer and it dropped once I left. I would say you died for a short minute. Want something to drink?" I change the topic.

"Sure. It's just I've never felt like that. Yeah, I've been teased, but by you and the way you did it. God," Matt makes his way over to me and sits at the island.

"You say that to all the girls?" I laugh, making us drinks.

"Nope, girls don't really like me," He scratches his neck awkwardly.

"Why is that?"

"I tell them my story and then they trip."

"Well, you're lucky. You've found one girl that stayed," I beam and hand him a glass.

Matthew grins, "Do you do that to all the boys?"

"Uhm, kinda. I like to get what I want and sometimes I play the game."

"So you're a gold digger?"

"Literally, no. But I can be if I don't fall for the guy and he falls for me."

I sat on top of the counter and he walked to me.

"Trust me, you'll fall for me."

I smirk, "Really now? I bet you'll fall for me first."

Matthew puts his hands on my thighs and leans in, pressing his lips against mine. The kiss is sweet and gentle. I kinda feel like it was meant to be.

He pulls away, "We'll see, sweetie."

We were about to kiss again, but it was rudely interrupted by my phone. Matthew moves over and I hop off the counter. I jog over to the couch and answer the call.

"Yeah?"

"Can you come pick me up?" Daya asked, her voice cracked.

"Yeah, what's wrong, Day?" I quickly put on my shoes and jacket.

"I'll tell you later. Just hurry, please," My friend hangs up and I pocket the phone.

"Daya sounds like she's in trouble. So you're gonna have to go," I pick up my keys as he follows me to the door.

"Do you need me to come?" Matthew stops me worriedly.

"No, I think I can handle her and her crappy boyfriend. Call me if you need anything, alright?" I yell out as we both head to our cars.

It only takes me five minutes to get there and luckily, Kaleb was no where to be seen. I would've beat his ass to a pulp. I pulled up right in front of Daya and she quickly got in the car. The girl clutched her arms, shivering and I turned the heater up a bit.

"So?"

"He basically was being a douche the entire time and I slapped him. That's all, alright?" Daya snapped.

I sighed and drove the rest of the way home, taking the longer route.

Once we arrived home, I opened up the fridge and got out Daya's favorite ice cream: Cookie Dough.

"Thanks," she slouched and mumbled.

"Boo, I'm glad you slapped him. If you didn't, I would have to go psycho bitch on him," I laugh, trying to lighten up the moment.

She smiles and walks to her room. The girl is probably going to watch Friends or Full House. I wish I knew how to make her feel better.

A knock at the apartment door stopped the silence. It sounded quite urgent, so I sped walked to it.

"Hey," Matthew said right as I opened the door.

"W-What are you doing here?" My eyes widened a bit.

Matt scratched his neck awkwardly, "I forgot my jacket and I wanted to see you again."

I smiled, letting him inside. That's nice. He grabs the coat and walks back over to me.

"Y'know, I kinda just realized that we really haven't had a conversation since high school," the boy laughs awkwardly.

That put me in my place. Sure, we talked every so often, but it wasn't for real, right? Now that I think about it, we barely even know each other anymore.

"Mio? You okay?" Matthew questioned, waving a hand in my face.

I blushed at his worry, "I'm good. Just thinking. I gotta go to sleep, so I'll text you later!" I lead him out quickly.

He tries to talk me out of it, but I push him out the door. I shut the door, huffing.

"Was that your boyfriend?" Daya's voice appears.

"N-no. You know I don't want to date anyone. I barely even know him."

She nods sarcastically and we both went back to our rooms.
