Emma's POV
It's Mat 8th and the day of Gryffindor's match against Hufflepuff. Since I meet Smok, we've meet two other times. I still don't know his true name. I know so much about him. Like he has two parents, no siblings, is rich and is active. But I don't know what house he's in, his age or name. He uses a school owl to message me. Apparently people would recognize his owl. I'm meeting him today after the match.
Right now though I'm in the library. I convince Fay and Hermione to go to the match without me. To tell me about it later. As I really wanted to read up dark creatures. Madame Pince had made it braille for me. Coal had left for the loo.
"What'cha reading?" a girl asks startling me. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. I'm Penelope Clearwater, a Ravenclaw prefect" she states.
"I'm Emma, second year blind Gryffindor" I tell her.
"Where's your dog?" she asks me.
"He had to go to to the loo. I told him I'd wait here" I tell her. "Anyway, I'm reading a book on dark creatures. Madame Pince charmed the book so that I can read it" I state.
"That's nice of her, it's also nice that she lets your dog in the library. Other pets aren't allowed" she tells me.
"Well I can't really go anywhere without him. How come you're not at the game?" I ask her curious.
"Exams are approaching and I have homework" she states. "Though my boyfriend asked me to go support his house" she adds.
"That's sweet" I tell her.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" she asks me curious as I feel her sit down next to me.
"I don't know what we are, but I am seeing a guy in secret. He sent me a musical Valentine. We're meeting up after the match" I tell her.
"Oh that's sweet, what's his name?" she asks me.
"No idea, I call him Smok" I tell her.
"That's Polish for dragon" she tells me. I freeze, dragon? As in Draco? As in Draco Malfoy? "Are you ok?" she asks me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just had an epiphany" I tell her. "I think I know who he is, but I'm not sure how to feel about it. I could be wrong" I state.
"There you are Emma!" Hermione exclaims and I jump. "Sorry, but Madame Pince says you have the book I'm looking for" she states.
"A book on dark creatures" I say.
"Yes, that's it. Can I borrow it?" she asks me.
"Sure, Finite" I say tapping it with my wand. Returning it to a normal book.
"Thank you" she says taking it. I hear her flip through the pages. "Here it is, the creature that's been attacking everyone!" she declares.
"A basilisk" Penelope says.
"But no one's died Hermione" I tell her confused.
"That's because no one has looked it in the eye. They've only seen it's reflection" she states.
"But how could it be getting around?" Penelope asks her.
"She's right, a large snake. Someone would of seen it wondering the halls" I tell her.
"Pipes, Harry says he's been hearing voices from inside the walls. And he's a parsel mouth" she states. I hear her scribble something on parchment and paper ripping. "We have to tell everyone, do either of you have a mirror?" she asks us.
"Hermione, I'm blind" I remind her.
"I do" Penelope states.
"Great, we can use it to look around corners" Hermione states. "Emma, where's Coal?" she asks me.
"Outside, he needed the loo" I tell her.
"We'll be your eyes then" she states. I go to protest, but she pulls me from my seat. She lets go and Penelope grabs my robes. They lead me out of the library. "All clear" Hermione says. She must have the mirror.
"Guys, I can't go downstairs without Coal" I tell them.
"You'll be fine, we'll tell you when we reach them" Penelope tells me. I sigh in defeat wishing Coal was here. Suddenly I feel Penelope stiffen and she falls to the ground. Taking me with her.
"Damn it" I say. "Hermione, what's happened?" I ask. But get no answer. I then hear something slithering along the floor. "Oh no" I say and try free my robe from Penelope's grasp. I hear a dog bark. "No, Coal run!" I shout. I hear him yelp in pain. "Leave my dog along" I say as I rip myself from Penelope's grasp.
I don't care if I'm blind, no one hurts my dog. I hear him whining in pain. I feel something wrap around me. "Let me go!" I shout trying to break free. But it tightens it's grip. I feel it take us away. I soon lose consciousness due to the lack of oxygen from it's tight grip.
(Chamber of Secrets) Third Persons POV
"Well done my pet, I look forward to seeing what happens when you look into her eyes" Tom says smirking at the unconscious blind girl. "Will she die? Or be petrified? Or neither?" he muses. "Go to sleep" he hisses and the Basilisk returns to its bed chamber.
(Hospital Wing) Third Persons POV
"I warn you. This could be a wee bit of a shock" McGonagall tells Ron and Harry. They see a petrified Hermione.
"Hermione" they say and rush to her side.
"She was found near the library, with Miss Clearwater. Along with this. Does it mean anything to either of you?" she asks them showing them a mirror. They shake their heads. They hear a dog whine and turn to se Fay with Coal.
"Coal?" Harry says surprised.
"He was found with them, has bruised ribs. There was no sign of Miss Vane" McGonagall tells him sadly.
"Who would take a blind girl?" Ron asks confused.
"We don't know Mr Weasley, the school is being searched for her" McGonagall states. "I must take the three of you back to the Gryffindor common room. I have new rules to announce" she tells them.
"But what about Coal?" Fay asks her.
"Madame Pomfrey wants him to spend the night, he'll be safe" McGonagall assures her. She leads the three second year gryffindors to Gryffindor tower.
(Slytherin Common Room) Third Persons POV
Draco just got back from the lake. Emma had not turned up. "Hey Draco did you hear?" Blaise asks him.
"Hear what?" he drawls.
"That mudblood Granger was petrified with a ravenclaw prefect" he states.
"I also heard that that blind girl is missing. Her dog was found hurt with Granger and the ravenclaw prefect" Theo adds. Draco freezes in shock, that's why she wasn't there he thinks to himself.
"Serves her right for hanging out with filth" Pansy states.
"Enough Pansy" he tells her. Just then Snape enters the room. Calling for everyones attention.
"Because of recent events, these new rules will be put into effect immediately: 'All students will return to their house common rooms by 6:00 every evening. All students will be escorted to each lesson by a teacher. No exceptions.' I should also tell you this: Unless the culprit behind these attacks is caught. It is likely the school will be closed" Snape tells them.
"Any sign of Emma Vane professor?" Draco asks him.
"None so far" Snape says. "You are all to remain here until I collect you for the feast" he states. Before leaving the common room. Draco ignores his friends as he thinks about Emma. Praying to Merlin that she's ok.
