Emma's POV

Harry had gone to Quidditch practice, Oliver is working the team hard. Ron and Hermione are playing chess. The only thing Hermione sucks at. I am reading the book she got me for Christmas. While Coal lays in front of the fire beside us sleeping. I can hear his faint snores. "Bishop to C4" Hermione says.

"Queen to C4" Ron says smugly and I hear Hermione's bishop being destroyed. I giggle as Hermione groans. "Check" Ron states. I hear someone join us. "What's the matter with you? You look terrible" Ron says shocked. Must be Harry back from practice.

Speaking quietly so that no one else would hear. Harry tells us about Snape's sudden, sinister desire to be a Quidditch referee. "Don't play" Hermione tells him.

"Say you're ill" Ron adds.

"Pretend to break your leg" I suggest.

"Really break your leg" Ron states and I whack him in the head. "Ow, Emma" he whines and I smile smugly. He should of not sat next to me.

"I can't" Harry tells us. "There isn't a reserve Seeker. If I back out, Gryffindor can't play at all" he explains. I hear someone hopping over and frown.

"What happened?" Hermione asks someone.

"Malfoy" Neville says. "I met him outside the library. He said he'd been looking for someone to practice that on" he explains.

"Leg lock curse?" I ask him.

"Yeah" he grumbles. "Do any of you know the counter curse?" he asks. I hear Hermione mumble it and hear Neville sigh in relief.

"You should report him Neville" Hermione tells him.

"I don't want more trouble" he mumbles.

"You've got to stand up to him, Neville" Ron tells him earnestly.

"He's used to walking all over people" I add

"She's right. But that's no reason to lie down in front of him and make it easier" Ron states.

"There's no need to tell me I'm not brave enough to be in Gryffindor, Malfoy's already done that" Neville chocks out.

"That is not what we meant Neville" I tell him softly. "You're worth twelve of Malfoy" I state.

"Emma's right. The Sorting Hat chose you for Gryffindor, didn't it? And where's Malfoy? In stinking Slytherin" Harry tells him and I smile.

"Thanks, Harry... I think I'll go to bed... D'you want the card, you collect them, don't you?" Neville asks him. He must of had a chocolate frog.

"Who did you get Harry?" I ask him curious.

"Dumbledore again" he states. "He was the first one I ever..." he gasps. "I've found him!" he whisper yells to us. I frown in confusion, who? "I've found Flamel! I told you I'd read the name somewhere before, I read it on the train coming here -- listen to this: 'Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel'" he reads a loud.

"Hermione, do you still have that book we borrowed for light reading?" I ask her.

"I do, stay here" she says and I hear her run off. She soon returns placing the heavy book on the table. "Emma and I got this out of the library weeks ago for a bit of light reading" Hermione tells the boys.

"This is light?" Ron asks us shocked.

"Light to us" I tell him shrugging. Hermione had been reading it to me as there is not a braille version for me to read. "What's it say Hermione?" I ask her.

"Nicholas Flamel, is the only known maker of the philosopher's Stone" she tells us.

"The what?" the boys ask shocked.

"Honestly, don't you two read?" we ask them.

"Nicholas Flamel is the only know maker of the Philosopher's stone. The Philosopher's Stone, a legendary substance with astonishing powers. The Stone will transform any metal into pure gold. It also produces the Elixir of Life, which will make the drinker immortal" Hermione reads.

"Immortal" Ron says intrigued.

"It means you'll never die" I tell him.

"I know what it means" he whines.

"The only stone current in existences belongs to Nicholas Flamel. Who just celebrated his six hundred and sixty-fifth birthday last year. Enjoys a quiet life in Devon with his wife, Perenelle (six hundred and fifty-eight)" Hermione finishes.

"That's got to be what Fluffy is guarding, the Philosopher's stone" I tell them. "There's one thing I don't understand though" I tell them frowning.

"What?" the boys asks.

"Something that valuable should have more then a three headed dog guarding it" Hermione states.

"Exactly, the question is what?" I tell them.

"We could ask Hagrid" Harry suggests.

"We can ask him after the match" Ron states. We all agree and Harry goes to clean himself up. While I go back to my book and the other two go back to their game. Hermione loses as Harry rejoins us. Harry takes her spot challenging Ron. So she reads the book she had just brought down on Flamel. In hopes of finding more clues about what could be guarding it.

When the other two finished their game, which Ron won. Coal woke up and barked. We all go down for dinner in the great hall. I didn't eat much and I hear Coal scoff his food down. We then all return to our dormitory and call is an early night.
