Michel

I want to see her again. Just once more. Just one last time.

It has been quite long since I last saw Cloé. I was already safe in my home. All conflicts were cleared.

I am standing by the window watching people pass by. Once everything was cleared, I turn to go back to my room.

Meow!

I look back at the window. There was a black cat with a bell around it's neck anf also a white one. For sure, those cats were Noïr and Blanc.

"Cloé..." I mutter to myself.

The last time I saw her was in that house. It couldn't be possible that she's here. No matter how little hope of her presence is here, I already know that she's gone.

Meow!

I start to doubt myself. Maybe, just maybe, she's here. Maybe there's another chance for us to be reunited. I quickly go in my room. Pierre looks at me with a puzzled expression. "I'll be back. I'm going to visit a friend of mine." I tell him. "O-Oh okay. Be back before dinner." Pierre reminds.

I rush outside and follow the two cats. I stop by where I can ask for ride. After being dropped off, I continue following Noïr and Blanc. They stop in front of the staircase.

A girl with long wavy violet hair bends down to pet them. My eyes widen to her nostslgic smile and familiar appearance.

"Cloé..."

She turns to look at me. Her eyes gleam with happiness. She runs towards me, throwing herself at me to be able to embrace me. "Michel!" She says cheerfully.

I slowly return her embrace. A faint blush tints my cheeks from her actions. "Michel, I missed you! You should visit me more often!" She whines with a childish pout.

"Sorry about that." I say, pulling away. "It's fine! Hey, Michel! Can you play your violin again for me?" She requests, still smiling cheerfully. "Yeah, but what piece?" I asked. she just smiles and gestures for me to go in.

We go inside and head to the second floor. I look at the piano. To my surprise, it was fixed. "Wasn't this broken?" I ask aloud. "It's been fixed ever since you helped me that time." She answers.

She sits on the piano and puts the piece, "Cloé's Requiem" in front of her. I took a violin from a nearby chair. Who would've known that it would be found so easily?

Cloé takes a deep breathe. She starts to play the piano. I got into position and started to play along. Memories flood in.

I still remember when I fled from home and then I somehow ended up here. I met Cloé here. She told me that the house was cursed. I had to go through a lot of rooms. I even found out about her maids and parents. In the end, I was able to put an end to the curse. I also realized... That Cloé was not alive to begin with.

We continue playing with even more memories flooding in. I should be thankful that Cloé is here. After all, I might not see her again.

The piece slowly comes to an end. A short moment of silence slowly passes by. I turn to Cloé.

"How was it?" I ask. "It was really good! Cloé is really happy!" She answers. I smile slightly. She suddenly falls silent. Her smile turns to a frown. She then gives ne an apologetic smile.

"Sorry Michel. Cloé needs to go." She says. My eyes widen. "Cloé, what do you mean?" I ask hesitantly, hoping that it isn't what I think it is. "You know, Michel, Cloé is already gone. That's why Cloé can't stay for too long." She explains.

"C-Can't you stay just for a short moment?" I ask. "Sorry, Michel." She apologizes. She walks towards me then stops directly in front of me. She takes a hold of my hands.

"You're hands... Are warm... Mine are just... Cold... Michel is still living. Cloé isn't. That's why, when the time comes, Michel can be with Cloé. So for now, be happy... And also... Thank you." She tells me. She leans forward and gives me a peck on my cheek.

She walks a few steps back, smiling. Her hands at her back and her head slightly tilted. She was slowly fading. "Cloé..." I mutter. I could see through her. She was really fading.

"I'll see you again!"

And with that, she's no longer here. "Cloé!" I call out. I look around frantically. She really was gone. Tears that threaten to fall break through. I look at the ground. Piano sheets were in front of me. The piece that we last played together.

"You're hands... Are warm... Mine are just... Cold... Michel is still living. Cloé isn't. That's why, when the time comes, Michel can be with Cloé. So for now, be happy... And also... Thank you."

I wipe my tears and pick up the piano sheets. I walk away from the house. I look back and saw Cloé smile. My eyes widen. It was a short moment. I walk far from the house until I could find no trace of it.

That was the last time I saw her, the last time I played a piece with her, the last time I could see her smile. But then again, It wasn't a bad end.
