Layla's pov
I never had such high expections such as not feeling anything when he put his suit over my shoulders with such a soft expression on his face. It was impossible not to feel anything when he looked at me like that.
With my heart pounding and my cheeks getting progressively warmer, my mind yelled trying to warn me; don't fall for him, don't fall for those tricks. You don't like him anymore.
But who was I kidding when I said that. I knew I was crazy in love with him. No matter how many times I said it to myself and to others that I no longer liked him-it was a lie every time. I still like him.
We headed inside and Olivia who I assumed would be upset just smiled at both of us and said "thanks lay, I was worried he'd be cold outside and you bought out his jacket. You're the best best friend ever. You're so sweet, I'm sorry he troubled you."
It felt like her every word was sharp knives just stabbing me in the back. With a pretty smile on her face, she drew the line between me and her. She was his girlfriend and I was not and to do what I just did was out of line. And she was saying that she didn't want something like that to happen again and I understood.
Plus, I could tell she was putting me in my place by emphasizing that I was just a friend while she was more than that.
I smiled "it's not a problem. You must have such a hard time dealing with such a dumb monkey." I said and Cameron looked offended "says you rat." He replied and Olivia giggled prettily before holding Cameron's hand as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
I bit the inside of my cheek, no longer comfortable with third wheeling these two. Moreover, I didn't want to look down and look at how perfectly their hands molded together.
Thankfully someone interrupted and joined in on the conversation.
"Hey Goldie come hang out with me. Nana said you're the sweetest and I thought I should meet more people before attending St.Marie." Thankfully he saved me from third wheeling but that didn't mean I wanted him to be the one to get me out of that situation. This Jacob guy was just too annoying and the fact that he keeps calling me Goldie doesn't help either.
"I don't wanna." I replied back as he smiled charmingly and I could see why he was a model.
"You have to. Plus nana said you like sweets and there's sweets over there and since you're on senior duties you should tell me about the school." He said convincingly, and I was interested the moment he said there were sweets. But I obviously had more self restraint.
"That's not gonna get me to go over there-" I began and he continued "there's over 5 kinds of flavors of madeleines that I bought over there and they're all yours."
"Fine. Let's go." I said disappointed in myself for giving in too quickly just because of madeleines.
When we reached the kitchen where the supposed madeleines were, Jacob pulled me to a secluded part of the kitchen.
"What are you doi-" I began and he cut me off "do you like Cameron?"
I paused with my wrist midair, caught in his grip as a couple seconds ago I tried to free myself from his hold.
"No." I replied, trying to sound believable and he smiled "how cute. So you do."
"I just said I don't." I restated and he chuckled "what do you like about him? Hm?" He asked as he leaned in closer to my face.
