Layla's pov
As we reached the venue, Jacob offered his hand several times politely, as he was worried I'd fall.

"I'm good, thanks Jacob." I replied as I finally reached the top of the staircase. As we wore our black graduation caps and gown, we were announced one by one for a handshake and awards as the words "congratulations on graduating" were repeatedly said with a happy intimation. Especially when it came to the name "Cameron Brooks." Obviously the principal and staff would be delighted to have Cameron graduate, after all he has done nothing but cause trouble for the school. The principals wide smile stretched from ear to ear, dripping in happiness and relief.

Cameron obviously could see that the principal was just happy to finally be freed from Cameron's terrorization.

"Congratulations Cameron." I saw the principal say as Cameron gave a fake smile and replied "don't miss me too much. I'll visit as often as I can. Jenkins." I couldn't even be surprised at the fact that he had the confidence to call out to the principal using his first name. It was only  something Cameron could do.

The principals smile faltered and he looked surprised for a second before realizing he was up on stage and returned the smile with hesitancy.

After the awkward air of fake smiles and congratulating words filled the graduating time, everyone took pictures together and it was time to head to the venue where our prom party was being held at which was in downtown. It was a 10 minute walk away from the ruckus filled downtown area where Cameron frequently would hang out at and get into fights. I wouldn't be surprised for Cameron left half way through the night to go to the trouble filled area.

And as if I was a psychic, my prediction became a reality.

As everyone partied and had fun while we photographed every moment, I caught a dressed up Cameron exit the back doors from my peripheral vision.

My heart started pounding so loudly that I heard it more clearly than the music that was being blasted.

Now was my chance. I have to tell him otherwise he'll find out from others tomorrow morning. Which would be upsetting, because at the end of the day he still was my best friend.

As I opened the back doors with slight difficulty, the cold night breeze brushed against my warm body after being surrounded by a large crowd. My eyes frantically searched for his figure amongst the busy crowd.

The downtowns lights prettily lit up the nighttime and made me feel my heart and stomach drop at the fact that I was waving this place. I really didn't think I'd get this attached to this place in just a year.

My eyes finally caught a glimpse of him among the busy people and with my high  heels started loudly clicking on the concrete floor. I pushed through the people with difficulty trying to not lose sight of Cameron. My hands held onto my long dress as I called out his name with a hint of desperation.

Cameron.

Cameron.

Cameron.

Look my way.

With a burst of energy. I ran and reached a traffic light with a busy pedestrian crossing.

Like I had nothing but bad luck, I saw Cameron cross the road and reach the other side.

At this point I felt extremely desperate, I was going to lose him at this rate.

So with a strong inhale and eyes full of determination, I yelled out his name like I'd done many times prior. But this was probably the last time I'd call out to him like this in a long time, so I made it more sincere. Because I really like him.
