Warning: Mention of deadly illness.

Your body betrayed you and you fell asleep last night but you still woke up a few times just to check if Lizzie is okay. Every time you moved your hand or pulled your hand from her grip so you could check on her or do something, she would unconsciously in her sleep look for your hand. You don't mind at all. No. You actually love it. You think that she looks cute being like that. It drew a smile on your face and even a bigger one on your heart.

And Lizzie, she was in slumber heaven the whole night. She fell into a deep sleep after everything you did to her with pure warm care last night but you were the main reason why slept so well. Knowing that you were next to her and holding her hand unquestionably furnished her with infinite solace all through the night.

The exhaustion in you and the effect from the medicine she took make both of you didn't even bother to wake up despite the amount of golden rays of the sun that gradually slide into the room.

After a few hours of extra sleep since the sun rose and shined, Lizzie finally stirred up from her sleep, laying on her back. She already feels a lot better than yesterday. Just like last night, her subconscious instantly looks for you but it stops as soon as she feels her right hand still holding your left hand. She turns her head to where she and your hands are. This soft wave of flutter rushes to her heart, stomach and all over her body. Her mouth curves into a smile at the view of your hand in her grip. She slowly looks up to you who is still asleep with your back as well as your head laid onto the headboard.

She feels bad that you sleep sitting the whole night. She remembers that you did that on purpose just so you wouldn't be in deep sleep and still aware if she needed something in the middle of the night. She wants you to rest a little longer. So she just keeps laying there with her hand still holding yours. Her mind is occupied by all the things you did yesterday. Even though she hates that you saw her when she was sick, weak and vulnerable but deep down she loves the memories of you taking care of her gently. How worried you were about her really warmed her heart. She remembers that you said you care about her.

Her mind ponders what did you actually mean with it. Did you really mean it? The word care could mean anything in that context. She thinks that you were just being nice and did what you were supposed to do as her assistant or as a person in general to others. She thinks that you just started to show the real you, a nice, thoughtful and full of care person. That's it. Nothing more than that.

But a tiny bit of disappointment showed up in her heart when her brain tried to answer her own questions and convince her that everything you did last night and what you said were nothing more than just you being a thoughtful and kind hearted person. She unconsciously wishes that it was more than that but her stubbornness, denial and her logic are way bigger, stronger and take more control of her than her heart does at this moment. So much control that she even slowly gets confused and irritated at herself for thinking about it so much.

While her memories from yesterday and her thoughts are roaming around in her mind, her thumb subconsciously starts to gently brush back and forth the back of your hand. You stir a little bit and gently tighten your grip on her hand in your sleep as soon as her thumb starts doing it. Your warm tightened grip quickly grabs her attention, thinking that you are waking up. She looks up to you only to find you are still sound asleep. She can't help herself and smiles at the view. She's looking at you with adoration. Her eyes flicks between you and both of your hands holding each other then back at you again.

As much as she wants to stay like this, but she also wants you to wake up so she can see your smile again and hear your voice again so she decides to wake you up. "Y/n? Y/n wake up." She calls you so softly and rubs her thumb again to help her to wake you up. "Y/n, good morning. Come one, wake up." She calls you a little louder this time.
