-Goddess-

I woke up the next morning sore as hell. The sound of my family hustling and bustling reminded me that I should probably check out all of the missing work I'd been neglecting for me to receive my GED. I leaned over in my bed and checked my phone. Fucking six o'clock in the morning, but shit people had work to do.

I groaned and wiped my hands over my face like that action alone would wake me up. I slowly made my way to the bathroom and freshened myself up for the day. Monday's always felt so painful, but then I was right back into the groove of things by Tuesday, already wishing it was Friday again. It's just something so magical about Friday's. They just felt like a release of excited energy.

After I was done waking myself up with a cold shower and mint tooth paste, I slowly proceeded down the stairs. "Good morning," my mom called up to me, happiness glimmering in her eyes. I noticed as she moved about the house getting ready for the start of her day that she subconsciously showed off her ring to each person she encountered. I smirked at my dad, and we did our handshake. I knew he had laid it down on my mom for sure.

I was heading for the door when my sister tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around, expecting another order to make me drive around Dayton. Instead, I was met with a fist. I stumbled back, completely caught off guard by my usually timid sister's actions. Then I grew pissed that I had let anybody catch me lacking. "The fuck is up with you?" I screeched.

My gaze sawed into my sister's and she slightly moved back, seeming to lose some momentum in her anger. "What happened?" my mother rushed over, followed by my dad.

"She fucking punched me," I growled.

"It's cause you walk around here like a damn asshole. Doing what you want, as you please. While everyone has to be adults and man up. Shit not gon fly that way no... no mo," my sister said awkwardly.

"Cut that other shit out," I waved my hand at the way slang sounded coming from her mouth. "All I was doing was walking outside. Fuck you had to punch me for?"

"Y'all might be grown, but that language needs to stop," my father warned.

I turned to him, frustration l hopefully clear in my eyes. "Aurora you shouldn't have done that," my dad carefully told my older sister. He then turned to me. "But she is right: everyone is fed up with your larger than life behavior." You know, the thing that pissed me off the most was that I had actually been changing. After I had talked to Nico those few times, I was starting to fade away from being Devil and becoming Goddess, but you know what... people are always gonna see me in the same light. So why change?

I closed down my emotional walls and shot Aurora a glare that probably could break through a house, "Touch me again and you're gone," I told her darkly. I swung around and unlocked the door, stepping out into the brisk early morning. All I wanted was a taste of fresh air before I dived into work I couldn't even care less about. But now that Aurora had to shake up my morning, I guess it's time to have a little fun. I smirked to myself.

I was doing 90 on the freeway in a stolen car, letting the wind sucking through the open windows blow through my unruly curls. They flew everywhere, as wild as my spirit was.

If I had one.

I slowly felt myself becoming Devil again. Every part of me felt more alive and I felt at home. Now that I realized it, so much bad had happened while I was being "Goddess", this was obviously where I belonged.

I no longer looked to get over, and fuck a signal light. I was dangerously close behind a vehicle. I could damn near see the people inside of it clearly. I saw the "Baby On Board" sticker and the Star Wars merch, and their taped tail light. I could be a second away from hitting them at any minute.

I was so close that I could almost smell they ass. The car abruptly got over and I screeched to a stop behind a stalled car. I laughed out loud, my heart racing at my near death experience. "I'm back baby!" I announced. I swerved out of my lane and exited the freeway. Despite my rushing heart, I didn't want to test my human body's limits any further. I made due with speeding along the narrow side streets, letting my windows all the way down so the sound of loud bugs, and the smell of cigarettes could fill my nostrils.

The street lights were the only things that illuminated the road, besides the fading moon as daylight broke in pretty pastel colors. Bars were still open and prostitutes sat at bus stops, mean mugging every car that passed. Kids walked to their bus stops with little siblings and standard uniform clothes on.

I didn't know where I was going but I felt like I was flying. I didn't know whether the car was touching the ground anymore, or if I had finally unlocked the ability to fly in this body. To soar higher than anybody's expectations for me. A car shot out from a side road right in front of me. I had remembered enough from my classes to know to slightly adjust my wheel to hit the car where they'd receive the least amount of damage. But I was traveling too fast, my impact would still likely send us both spinning.

I let go of the wheel and pressed on my breaks, covering my face as I braced myself for the impact.
