-Goddess-I sat at the police station with a blank face and closed lips. "Again. If you pin Jayna Millson, you can have a fifteen year reduction on your 47 years sentence," the cop leaned towards me on the table, the smell of coffee and something sour on his breath.
I stared at him, emotionless.
"You could be facing 47 years, Ms. Hughe, and yet you still stick up for your best friend," the cop huffed.
"I mean, she bailed on you, Goddess. We're tryna help you out. She's off the map somewhere probably out of the country, this could help you get less years in prison and get back at her for leaving you to deal with all of this," the other cop said with a small smile. "We're here to help. If we wanted to just throw you in prison, we have enough evidence to do so."
I'm sure, I thought sarcastically.
I cleared my throat and smiled sweetly at them.
"Will you let me tell you who started all of this now?"
The cops hadn't been back in the interrogation room in a long time now, and I suspect they were exhausting all resources to look over the evidence I had given them, along with trying to intimidate me. But I was used to silence and being trapped in my mind. I closed my eyes and kept my face blank, hoping that the ones I cared about were safe.
It was almost hilarious: I had been merciful to so few, and here I was, hoping that just by chance all the people I cared for would remain unscathed in this situation. Even if I was the only person to go down.
I sucked in a deep breath and peeled my eyes open as I heard someone quietly enter the room. "Goddess Hughe?" She was a different cop, with tied back brown hair and crow's feet around her eyes. Nothing about her showed her older age except for those features and the way her gaze seemed to see through my facade. I immediately didn't like this woman, but I wouldn't show her my discomfort as her pale tan hands slid around a bag of chips.
"You want some?"
They were unopened but I wasn't sure I wanted my DNA tested. I'm sure they would find one way or another, but if I could control it...
"No thank you." I sighed, "The treatment I've been receiving so far has made me not wanna eat." I relaxed my body language like I was going to open up to her. I noticed how her feet turned to me under the table and she folded her arms wide across the width of the table, like she was inviting me in.
The body language wars then?
"I looked into you, and found something particularly interesting about your case." I immediately wondered if she was referring to the Archery case or the Lavigne case, but realized she was referring to me and my government documents. I mentally prepared myself for her to mention that memory.
The one that I had suppressed for so long until yesterday.
I wondered how far Legend and Nicotine had gotten.
"I'm Detective Blue," she held out her hand.
"And I'm 'Innocent'," I smirked back, shaking her hand. Welp, there goes my DNA. I tried to not let myself focus on that. "You were at the park one day and your statement says that an older lady-
"What does this have to do with Rick and him pinning this shit on Jayna and I?"
"Everything," the woman smiled. "Perhaps you were so traumatized that you did a few things that you weren't supposed to?" she suggested.
"Or perhaps no one's listened to my side of things and I'm actually innocent," I gave her an amused expression. "Let's say you were. What makes Goddess Hughe innocent?" the woman gave me a small smile.
