We found an alleyway to sleep in for the rest of the night, nothing fancy, but at least there is this tiny bit of roof over us. To keep her from thinking anything weird about me, I keep as far away as I can from Kat, without losing sight of her. I fell asleep into uneventful dreams.
The next morning we did as any might expect, just get up, and walk away. We are not ceremonial about our morning, like just about everyone else, hopefully. While walking, I took my time to think.
I had no idea that Kat was a killer. Seeing how she nailed that guy last night though, I would suggest she has been doing so for a long time. I am beginning to have suspicions that she was the one who killed Cody. Things are really starting to clear up now. This also explains why pickings are thin lately. She has been hunting in the local neighborhood, just as I have been. How did I never notice?
:Kat's POV:
And now I have Seth to follow me. So much for solitary killing.
I am actually pretty surprised Seth is a killer. Like, you would least expect that skinny, non athletic, nerdy senior to suddenly become a murderer. His weapon, well I guess that is expected of him, an electric whip, made of copper wire and I believe a bug zapper handle. I think he is crazy.
And I will have no choice but to kill him. I don't need the extra company. The last time, with Cody, well, it ended badly. If this is what it takes to be a lone wolf, so be it.
:Volt's POV:
I look around and realize we were in a forest. Okay, nice scenery...
Wait, a forest? How did we get here?? The last time I looked around, we were following a road, a highway, but at least civilized. Now we are on a forest path, and no cars are to be heard.
"Kat? Where are we?" I ask, with a little confusion, and perhaps fear.
Kat looked up and stared at the trees around her.
"Good question, I don't remember taking any turns."
I was starting to get really freaked out. None of us ever recall stepping into the woods, but here we are. Could we have been teleported? No, impossible. There must be some logical explanation.
"I'm scared, Volt. Should we try getting back?"
Her voice scared me. When she finished her sentence, I realized how silent the woods were. Not even a bird singing.
Someone, or something, is watching us, or is nearby.
"Yeah, I realllly think we should get moving out." I tell Kat. Then I make a dash for it.
I have no clue where I am going, or if Kat is behind me. This forest, it, like stuffs me with fear. I feel as if I should not be there. I feel like prey for some unseen beast. I abruptly stop to catch my breath, when I notice something white on a tree nearby. I slowly walk up to it, and as I come closer to it, I get more and more fearful. It could be a trap, or a map, or some lost cat sign in the middle of no where. It could be anything.
I finally reach it. Kat is close behind me. When I learned what I was looking at, my heart filled with dread.
I'm not stupid, but I vaguely know what this is. It was a white sheet of paper, tacked up to the tree, with in black marker O's with X's through them. On the bottom, with messed up handwriting, were the words 'BEHIND YOU'
I think, I think this is a page.
We are going to die. And I refuse to turn around.
