Using my pasts, Chasing for you

I was in the park, sitting on one of the bench tables. Reading a book under the shade of a tree. Many people were passing by. Those who exercise, those who walk their dog.

"Are you... Rendy?" a man in mid forties suddenly showed up.
I stood up and offered my hand. "Call me Ren," I smiled, telling him to sit in front of me. "Vincent?"
He nodded as he took my hand for a handshake. "I inherited that name fifteen years ago. I'm the keeper in this generation." I nodded upon his words.

After we sat back, he immediately opened his bag. He pulled out a map from his bag and handed it over to me. "The program is on the USB. I was told those who asked should know how to use it."
I smiled. I expected that minimum precaution. "Thank you," I said. I took the map and looked inside. Other than the USB, there are also some documents.

While I looked at the documents, I noticed Vincent took a glance at me a couple of times. "Do you have something you want to ask me?" I said as I put the map in my bag.
He looked nervous and a little hesitant. "You look... young."
I just raised an eyebrow, didn't expect that kind of remark. "You were told that I'll be old?" I asked while chuckling.
"No. Not really. My grandfather told me to serve anyone who made contact to the number. Don't question their age, appearance. We just need to do our job. Serving you," he said.

I smiled. Yes. They are the keeper of this world. The one who kept and managed our past resources. Mostly our wealth. Sometimes, we entrusted it somewhere. Sometimes, we entrusted it to someone. So that we can utilize those possessions when we come back to this world. This wasn't the first time I lived in this world. I'm quite lucky at that. I don't need to build everything from scratch.

"Have... someone else contacted you?" I asked.
He nodded. "Eight years ago. A woman contacted me and asked for some help. Then, two years later she visited again, handing me some documents along with those system upgrades," pointing at the map. "I believed she lived overseas. She looks foreign. Her name is-"
"Stop. You don't need to tell me the details," I said.

The only one who does the maintenance... So, you're here, Rene? I chuckled.
I was just curious whether anyone lives at the same time as me now, but I never plan to meet any of them in this life. After what I did last time, it's better to avoid them for now. I have my own problems now so I don't plan to add more.

"Well then," I said, packing up. My business here was done. As I was about to stand... "Wait!" Vincent called, halting me. "The money?"
"Ah! I'll transfer it next week. Sorry, there's some problem with the bank," I said. There's a little issue when first I want to withdraw the money from my freelance jobs. I input a wrong bank account. My mistake. The process to change it would take three working days.
Vincent looked confused by my answer. Seeing him looking confused, I became confused myself. "What?"
"No. I mean your money. The contract states to help provide some initial funds, no matter the amount," he explained. "You haven't asked for any."

I just remembered "Ah! Right." We never knew in what situation or background we would end up. A contract that we set up when we created this whole system.

Well, I don't really need it now. I did some freelance work so I currently have my own funds, but... it would be good to have some backups. "Can you transfer some to this account?" I asked while typing my bank number and sent it to his contact. "The amount," I was thinking. "Well, I'll let you decide. I don't know how much is available." I said. He nodded, checking the message that I just sent to his number.

"I'll contact you in the future. I need help to manage my future funds," I add.
"But the previous funds are rarely used," he said.
I chuckled. Obviously. It would not be used if there was no one that could use it. When we die, these wealths would not be inherited to our family, even if we have any. The keeper would keep managing it for us.
"Give it to the future me, then," I smiled and left.
