"Samantha!" Janet shouted from inside the house.
The bald cop lowered his gun.
"You know her?" He asked.
"Yes! Let her in!"
The cop backed out of the doorway and Samantha looked inside. Janet suddenly jumped in the doorway and hugged Samantha almost as tight as she could. Samantha winced in pain, sore from everything she had been through.
"Are you okay!? What happened? How are you here?"
Samantha looked down at her leg that was bleeding through the bandages onto the floor. She sighed quietly.
"Oh my god. We need to get you to the hospital. Come on. Quick!"
Janet rushed Samantha out the door and the two cops followed. She didn't know where Rodney was, but if he was left in that house alone, Dexter would surely take care of him. Samantha resisted being shoved out of the door. She stood back in the house and in the doorway, with the two cops and Janet standing outside. There was suddenly a loud thud and a scream, and Janet was gone. Samantha's eyes widened, and she took a step back. Both of the cops turned to see Janet gone.
"Wait..What!?"
They turned back and looked at Samantha.
"Did you do that!?"
"I-I don't know.." Samantha stuttered innocently and slammed the door on the cops.
She locked it and quickly ran upstairs. She hid in one of the corners of Janet's room, and sat behind a chair quietly. There was a loud bang on the door downstairs, and it proceeded to slam open. There was the sound of quick feet and Samantha sat backwards. One of the cops ran upstairs and started inspecting the room. Samantha covered her mouth and tried not to cry.
Samantha felt a warm hand wrap around her stomach, and another hand around her mouth. She was pulled into a tight grip, and was sat on someone's lap. She slowly looked at the hands and saw that they were beaten up and cut in multiple places.
The cop walked out of the room, and there was a quiet "Shh.." right in her ear. Samantha elbowed the person behind her. The person grunted and Samantha quickly backed up. She backed into the middle of Janet's room, and Rodney moved out from behind the chair.
"Are you kidding me!?" Rodney shouted as he emerged from behind the chair.
Samantha kept backing up, until she hit something very cold. She stopped dead in her tracks and she was grabbed by the waist again.
"I see you found the boy, Samantha. Good job."
Dexter picked up Samantha and set her down behind him. Dexter walked towards the boy and tapped his shoulder once. The boy disappeared. The door slammed open and the cop rushed in. Samantha turned and darted for the door. Dexter growled, knowing what she was trying to do.
Samantha ran down the stairs and passed the blonde cop, to the front door. There was a lot of ruckus upstairs, and she just assumed it was Dexter dealing with the cop. Samantha ran towards the road as fast as she could, and turned right, running in front of the woods towards her own house. There was the sound of glass breaking behind her and then quick footsteps.
Samantha darted into the woods without hesitation, and stayed on the rim of the trees. She knew Dexter was right behind her. Samantha kept running as fast as her leg would take her. She suddenly remembered the pain in her leg, and it shot through her body. For some reason, the tension in Janet's house made her forget about her condition. Samantha quickly fell on the floor and grunted in pain. She landed on a log, and the wind was knocked out of her.
She rolled off of the log and laid on the floor, struggling to breathe. Dexter walked up to her, and looked down on her. Samantha tried to roll away in hopes that someone would try to save her, but instead, Dexter just grabbed her and picked her up. He carried her in the opposite direction, she assumed they were going back to the asylum.
"I'm tired of having to chase you. So, if you run away again I might just kill you."
Samantha made no more efforts to get away from him as she laid limp in his grasp. Samantha was extremely exhausted, and she knew that when they got back to the asylum, her friends were going to hate her.
"You know. You were being good. And I wasn't going to make you do this, but now that you've tried to run away yet again, we're going to go find Scarlett."
"No..please. I want to sleep."
"You should've thought of that before you ran. Did you really think you could get home?"
Dexter kinda chuckled, but it sounded fake due to his lack of emotion. They kept walking until they came to the door of the asylum. Dexter looked around and noticed the tracks in the snow. He smirked and started following them.
Samantha just stayed quiet, not knowing what to do. She could try to gain stamina to run again, or she could go along with the plan. Either or, she couldn't see herself getting away from Dexter. They approached a small hole in the ground next to a tree. The hole looked as if it was made by a bunny rabbit, or some other scary looking creature in the woods.
Dexter peered down in the hole, and noticed the small figure of a sleeping girl. So innocent, and so warm. Dexter sat Samantha down and looked at her. A traumatized mess, with no sense of direction in her life. Dexter scoffed and reached down in the hole, grabbing the girl as if she was a little dog.
The girl suddenly struggled to get out of the grip of Dexter's hand. The girls attention darted towards Samantha. Dexter held the small child and started walking the other way.
"Don't you dare try to run, Samantha."
Samantha sighed and slowly started following, trying to keep pressure off of her leg. Dexter started walking faster, noticing that the sun was coming up.
Samantha tried to keep up with him, but she failed as she fell down, and held her aching leg. Dexter stopped and turned to look at her.
"Get up."
Samantha struggled to get up, and failed yet again, stumbling back down. Dexter sighed and put the small girl down. He looked the girl straight in the eyes and put two fingers on her forehead. The girls eyes turned black and she faded into nothing, almost as if she never existed.
"What did you do to her?" Samantha looked up.
"I sent her back to the hole with no memory of what happened. I'll get her by myself tomorrow."
Dexter stepped over a branch and grabbed Samantha off of the floor, carrying her with her leg wrapped around his waist so it wouldn't get hurt. Dexter needed her to heal so she would be in the right shape for Rexter. He already knew that Rexter hated her because of what she had done, so she had to be ready for what he would do, because he surely wouldn't tolerate as much as Dexter could.
As Dexter approached the door, he noticed that Samantha had been very quiet, and very limp for the 10 minutes they had been walking. Dexter looked at the girl and she seemed to be sleeping. He touched her neck in order to feel her pulse. It was beating very slow, it almost seemed as if she was slipping away. Dexter opened the doors and ducked in the entrance, walking back to the cell.
Once he approached the cell he laid the sleeping girl on the bed and walked out, locking the metal bars behind him. He walked off in an unusual direction. One that he had not gone before, in this maze of an asylum.
