She stomped through the mud and began walking towards the edge of the woods. She turned on her flashlight and peered into the woods.

"Going through it wouldn't hurt, in fact it would be faster than going around it." She stated to herself.
"Alyssa might get mad, but she won't find out." Samantha whispered as she walked slowly into the woods. She stepped over branches, and walked quietly, trying not to draw attention to herself. Every leaf would crunch beneath her feet, and she would step on fallen sticks just for the thrill of the noise.

Samantha loved doing daring things, it satisfied her need for horror. She continued walking onward, and she saw a light in the distance.
"Janet's house!" She exclaimed.

She began skipping towards the light, but the light seemed like it was getting farther with every foot that landed on the leaves. She stopped shortly after, slightly confused. The woods were very dark, so she couldn't see her surroundings. But she started sweating for some reason. But it wasn't a normal sweat. It was a cold sweat.

She continued walking, keeping her head down, not looking at the light. She hoped that it was only doing this because of the stress she had. She looked back up at the light, and saw that it was indeed getting closer. She sighed in relief, and then flinched slightly as a cold rain drop landed on her shoulder. She sighed, and continued walking along, with her hand held tight around her pocket knife in her opened bag.

As she walked, she could hear the cars on the road to her right. She realized she wasn't in danger and a lot of her stress was relieved. If anything happened she could run to the road and search for help. The woods weren't all that big, and she was super close to Janet's house. She ran towards the light, holding her flashlight firm in her hand. As she ran, each tree that passed her seemed to fall down away from her. She felt like she had the power to knock down the whole forest.

This power continued as be bursted out into the open, seeing Janet's beautiful house in the distance. She took in a deep breath of the cold, sharp air.
"It doesn't get better than this.." She told herself in whimsical satisfaction.
She made her way through the thick layer of snow by Janet's house, and walked up to the porch.

She saw Rodney sitting on the porch waiting for her as always. He wasn't always the happiest person, specially when it came to Samantha. He didn't like the creepy vibe she gave off, and whenever she came over, he stayed far away from her.

"Hey, Rodney.." Samantha spoke quietly.
"What?" Rodney was uneasy, knowing how close he was to her.
"Uh, is.. Janet inside?" She asked.
"Of course she is. Where else would she be?" He snorted.
"Okay, thanks.." Samantha muttered as she knocked on the door.

⚠️STRONG LANGUAGE AHEAD⚠️

The door opened, and there stood Janet with a big smile on her face.
"Hey Samantha! Ignore Rodney, he's being a bitch." Janet growled.
"Shut the fuck up, Janet. And take your sorry ass inside if you're gonna talk like that." Rodney was clearly angry.
Samantha felt uncomfortable, standing so close to Rodney. She looked at Janet and cleared her throat.
"So-... uh.." Samantha struggled to find something to say.
"Come on, Samantha. Leave this dumb ass out here." Janet grabbed Samantha's hand and pulled her inside.
Samantha looked at Rodney as Janet shut the door, and she felt somewhat bad for him.
"He was being really mean earlier.. I'm sorry for his behavior." Janet spoke to Samantha.
"Anyways, my moms out of town with my aunt, she left her smokes, do you want one?" She held a smoke out to Samantha.
"Oh—...Uh no thanks," Samantha stuttered.
"I don't smoke.."
"Oh c'mon, it'll be fun! You're 15 now."
Janet gave Samantha a smoke.
"Janet I can't-"
"Ah ah- Shhh... it'll be fine, I promise you it's fun." Janet grabbed a lighter and lit Samantha's smoke.
"Janet, I really shouldn't."
"Why not?"
"It's bad for my lungs, and yours too."
"Samantha really, yolo."
"Ok, fine.."
Samantha took a deep breath and began to smoke the cigarette.
