∆Chapter∆ 14

Mikasa POV.
Annie fell asleep fast. I carried her next to a torn up mattress I found and placed her down. I layed beside her and watched her chest go up and down, how the moon reflecting on her face really showed her beauty, especially her lips-Wait no I-I shouldn't be thinking like that. She's my sister, we're family... right?But you wouldn't feel there types of things for a family member right?So then maybe-No!I shouldn't.But...My mind wondered off as I stared at her. I suddenly realized how big of a creep I looked like and decided to get up and check on everything before we went back. I wonder if Hitch will be suspicious of us or something. I mean we said a day, but it actually turned into two so...but then again if we arrive there before she awakes we could say we just got there late tonight. We'll think of something I guess.I checked everything and made sure the horses were well fed and ready to go.I found them when I was coming here. They really came in handy because I was pretty low on gas. I went through the castle and in the basement found a broken carriage. Perfect!It was missing a wheel so I had to spend some time making a new one. Witch I managed to do. It also needed some planks replaced. Now I'm glad I didn't spend all night watching Annie, because we actually really needed this carriage. When all of my work was done I looked up at the sky and noticed the moon was in the center of it. It would be good to go now. I went to wake up Annie but saw she was in deep sleep. She looked too peaceful to be disturbed so I just put her in the carriage next to Eren. I covered her with a blanket and I put something close to a blanket to cover Eren so no one could see when we were carrying. I connected the carriage with the horses and checked the map before going in the direction of wall Sheena. It was a bit difficult because it was night but the moon managed to provide just enough light. The wall was too big to miss it, even in the dark. When we were about a kilometre away the sun began to rise, Annie also decided to wake up.
"Mm, where are we Mika?"she mumbled while yawning. I blushed at a little nickname.
"We're almost there."I said. She got up to sit and turned around. She put her hands on the plank on the front and rested her head on them. After a couple of minutes we reached the gate. Annie layed down to not get seen by the guards. I put on my hood. One of them stepped in front of us and questioned who I was and what I was carrying. I told him to check himself. He groaned but came close to lift up the cover that was over Eren. But before his hand could come even close to lifting it Annie jumped on him from underneath her blanket. She got him on the floor and chocked him to the point he was just passed out. I did the same to the other guard. We knocked two more from inside the wall and continued to one of the entrances of the underground dungeon. There were also two guards but nothing that couldn't go to sleep in a matter of seconds. We transported Eren down there. We were extra careful when exiting and we managed to get back before Hitch woke up. The sun was still pretty low so we had some spare time. We got to bed and before we went to sleep I saw a tear slip from Annie's eye. I asked if she was okay and she just giggled.
"We did it...We finally did it! We're going back."she let some more fall down. I realized they were tears of joy so I started crying too. Annie hugged me and I curled up in her arm. We fell asleep convinced this was the end of our mission.

The next morning we were woken up by the shouting from outside. We quickly got up and got out to see what was going on. We saw the Survey Corps returning. They all looked miserable, like there was no hope. They probably came to wall Sheena to have another meeting with the premier and the two other regiments since they had now lost Eren. By now the word has already spread and the shouting we were woken up by were actually the cries of people. Commander Erwin along with Captain Levi and Hange continued on with some other people while the soldiers were dismissed. Reiner and Bertholdt came to us immediately. We lead them to somewhere private enough and they began talking. These two were amazed and wanted to hear everything about it. Annie quickly shushed them and told them to come closer. She then told them everything, Bertholdt seemed scared of Levi now, so did Reiner but he just didn't show it... well at least he tried to. When we parted Sasha, Connie and Jean came to us. Well to me but Annie still stayed to listen, occasionally throwing glares at Jean and him of course returning them. The tension between them was soon broken when Armin came crying. They started comforting him while we went back inside. There in the dining room we were met with Hitch who was, as usual, blabbing about random things. When she noticed us she immediately started bombarding us with questions. I let Annie deal with her while I went to grab us something to eat. When I came back I saw Hitch was very close in Annie's personal space and I felt...anger? rise in me. I don't know what it was for sure but I do know I apslutlly didn't like it. I was okay with people trying to talk to her and befriend her but almost sitting in her lap while doing so was something I couldn't stand. I came to them and sent a very obvious death glare to Hitch.
"Annie?"I said handing her a plate.
"Yeah?"she replied while taking the plate I handed her.
"Could I talk with you for a minute?"I said. Hitch groaned but let go of Annie. While we were leaving I heard Hitch say something along the lines of 'Oh I see. So that's what happened last night' but I just decided to ignore her. Annie asked what it was and I asked her to sit on some rooftop. We did and she again asked me what I wanted to talk about but I just stayed quite. Suddenly she had a face a realisation. Was I really that obvious?
"You know you could've just told me you didn't like her. I would've loved to ignore her either way."she said.
"It's not that I don't like her..." witch wasn't completely false."I just..."I didn't know how to word it so it wouldn't come out as creepy. Annie let out a chuckle.
"Oh I get it!Your a little jealous is that it?"she said with a smirk.
"H-Huh, n-no it's just...um..."she let out a laugh and patted my head, them continued to eat. I smiled and did the same. When we finished we sat there a little longer in comfortable silence. It was a bit quieter than before which I was really glad for. We watched people pass by and enjoyed the beautiful day. Eventually getting a bit tired we came down and went to take a nap.

We didn't even sleep for half a hour before Hitch came running into the room, screaming for us to get up. Annie immediately got irritated and asked why.
"Because the trial will be held now dumbass!"she said.
"Trial?For who?"I said.
"The Commander of the Survey Corps duh! Did you really think he wouldn't face the concequices for loosing humanity's only hope?" I sometimes felt bad for these people.I looked at Annie and she nodded already sitting up. We followed Hitch to where the trial was held. It was long and boring and it was in the end decided that the Commander was to be executed if Eren wasn't found in the next two weeks. Damn we had to wait two whole weeks before attempting to get him out. We already decided that Reiner should keep trying to send letter to Marley until we got a reply. Because as of now the only was to cross the ocean was via Bertholdt's titan. And we highly doubted we could make it all the way because of deep the ocean could get. So we all hoped the reply came withing those two weeks. Later that night Annie and I came on the same rooftop to eat some donuts and watch the stars. When we were about to leave Annie suddenly looked at me.
"Hey Mikasa?"
"Yeah?"
"What am I to you?"
The question was simple yet difficult to answer. I blush and I was sure I could see Annie blushing a little. I pulled my scarf up a bit and after a couple of seconds said.
"F-Family."how unsure I was could probably be heard right form my voice. Annie looked back down and just replied with an 'I see' before going down. Her voice seemed almost...sad?I didn't mean to upset her or anything. I just... I'm not sure myself. We walked in silence back, tho this time it was far from comfortable.
