∆Chapter∆ 9

Annie POV.
We were on that boat for more than a day.We finally saw a land in the distance this morning.We couldn't see much but we saw enough.It was a stone dock with a big wall in front of it, but that wouldn't be even remarkably close to walls we were yet to see.The walls made of Colossal titans just slightly smaller than Bertholdt's.How many would there have to be to build such big walls.Now that I think about it Mikasa didn't see the walls herself, did she?She told me she lived in a small house in the mountains.I turned to her, she was standing beside me.She seemed lost in thoughts, looking at the small piece of land that was visible in front of us.Suddenly she flinched, putting a hand on her head.I took her hand and she looked at me than looked down.
,,Sorry, I was just remembering something and I got a little headache."she said.I frowned.It probably had something to do with her kidnapping.
"Hey"I said caughting her attention.
"This will be your first time seeing the walls right?"she thought for a second.
"Y-Yeah, I guess it will."she smiled.The boat was coming closer and closer to the land.We will be there any minute now.The tension in the air could kill.We were all uneasy.Mikasa held onto my hand tighter.The boat was only a couple of meters form our destination.When the boat hit the dock I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.The rope was tied so the boat will stay in one place.The platform connecting the boat and dock was placed.Our bags were brought outside and placed on the stone dock before us.Finally finding the courage I started walking, pulling Mikasa with me.I set a foot down on the land.Land of the devils.Funny we call it that when we are no better.We were fully out, knowing there was no going back now.Marcel was the next to join us, then Reiner and lastly Bertholdt.The staff that accompanied us wished us the best of luck and bit they're goodbyes.We watched as the boat left the dock.
"So...what do we do now."Marcel asked.
"I think we should go in the direction of the walls and just make a camp somewhere when the sun goes down.We could take turns during the night to make sure there are no titans nearby."Bertholdt suggested.
"Yeah, that'll do for now."I agreed.Mikasa said nothing, just nodded.We climbed the stairs and looked at the desert before us.
"Now how do we do this.We don't have remarkably the same stamina Zeke or Mister Magath have."Reiner said.
"This is at least easy."Marcel said.
"Just transform and we will ride on your shoulders."I said.
"And why should I transform?"he asked almost offended.Marcel was about to say something but I was quicker.
"Because your shoulders have hard material we can hold onto.Bertholdt needs to save energy and there is no way someone could miss a titan as big as his even from kilometres away, my shoulders are more rounded so there is a possibility you could slip, same goes for hair.And Marcel's titan is just too close to the ground if we were attacked by titans we wouldn't have a chance to escape, also his titan is too small to hold four of us.So stop complaining and just do what you're told brat." I said fast.They looked at me shocked, probably never expected me to say so many words in such a short period of time.Reiner was the most shocked.He groaned but did as he was told.We stood as far away as we could and he rad towards the edge of the wall and took a huge leap, transforming.Once done he crouched down and we got on his shoulders.I tucked my legs under the armour as far as i could, then told Mikasa to sit on my lap.She did and I held her close so she wouldn't fall.Bertholdt was next to us and he shouted that we were ready.When Reiner heard that he stated running towards the green field.Marcel was keeping a eye on the map we were given so we knew where we were going.We traveled for the whole day but when the sun started to set we couldn't find a place that wasn't completely ruled by those things.We ended up trying to sleep on top of his titan.Key word 'tried'.It was hard with all of these annoying pieces of crap everywhere around us.The noises the made were something coming straight from the nightmares.If I woke up in the middle of the night to those noises I would assume I died and I'm in hell.Weren't there things supposed to be inactive at night?Because they were quite the opposite.We eventually figured there was no way we could sleep and we just continued looking.We finally managed to find one but by the looks of it the night was almost ending.They helped him get out of the titan while me and Mikasa put down our sleeping bags and started collecting branches for the fire.Setting it we all came close to get at least a little bit warm.It was spring but it was still chilly when it was night time.After staying in silence for a little while, knowing there was not pont in trying to sleep now we started discussing the plans for tomorrow.
"And tomorrow we reach the wall..."Marcel said sadly.The four of us looked down while Reiner looked at him shocked.
"Don't...don't tell me your reconsidering about killing the devils."he said in disbelief.
"Don't you remember what they did to us!?"he shouted.
"The warriors were selected to punish the island devils!"he continued.Marcel looked at him, a tear dropped form his eye.
"I'm sorry."he said.Reiner looked at him confused.
"Reiner, you were never meant to be selected as a warrior."he said.We all looked at him.
"I talked you up and criticised my brother to influence they're choice."he said, more tears starting to fall.
"I just wanted to protect my brother."he finished.We were all in a loss of words.The sun begin to rise...and so did the ground behind Reiner.
