∆Chapter∆ 8

Mikasa POV.
Annie's training finally ended.I was so happy she was coming back.Until this was announced.She...she will be sent away?And for how long!?Weeks?Months?Years!?I can't bare to live with her gone for that long, especially now that her time in this world was limited.I just couldn't!Mister Leonhardt must have noticed I was silently panicking because he put a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry.We'll figure it out."he said.He's been a lot nicer lately.I wonder why.Maybe Annie knows.
"Here, why don't you go and find her so we can go home."he said and I nodded with a smile.I walked around the crowd.All I could hear were whispers and groans.They seemed quite displeased about this.Like they didn't believe it was possible.I frowned, walking quicker just to get out of there.I didn't know where Annie was so I kept looking everywhere.Suddenly I heard what I thought was her voice.I went in that direction and saw she was on her knee in front of a General.She said my name.I hid, wanting to see where this leads.
"That simply won't do."he said.What won't do?
"She is needed to force Hizuru to do what we want."he continued.
"But it's been months.They seem to want that territory more then her.And don't lie, you wouldn't give her away even if they were on they're knees begging."Annie said.General was looking at her with pure amusement and fascination.
"You seem to have no problem voicing your opinion.So tell me, why should I let her go with you."He asked.Wait, was she asking him to let me go with them on the mission!?
"She's been training with me for months now.Plus, she believes I'm her Eldian king."Annie said.He smirked.
"Now that you say it like that.A strong little doggy following orders could come in handy."he said.I frowned.I wasn't just a dog to her was I?I looked at her and saw her eyes darkened a bit when he said that.
"Very well.But don't make me regret the decision I'm about to make Leonhardt."he said before walking away to where the other generals were.Annie stood up from her knee and dusted herself.
"I won't."she said looking in his direction.I waited for a couple of seconds so it wouldn't be obvious I was watching them before walking up to her.She saw me coming and smiled.She held her hand open and I ran to hug her.She lifted me up from the ground a little and spun me around.I giggled hugging her tight.
"Haha, I was only away for two weeks."she said laughing.She put me down and I lead her back to where Mister Leonhardt was.He patted Annie's back, saying it was good to have her back.She said it was good to be back and we started walking home.When she got dressed she immediately collapsed on the bed.I chuckled and put a blanket over her, then I changed as well and got in beside her.I snuggled to her side holding onto her arm, putting my head on the pillow beside her's.I thought about what general ans Annie's dad said back then.Was I really Annie's slave?Just a little doggy ment to follow her around?No!That couldn't be.Annie wasn't like that.She  was nothing like her father nor the general.She was...herself.And that's want made me stick with her.Right?It wasn't just because of my blood.It was...because I really wanted to be with her.At that moment I felt Annie's hand find it's way to mine.She intervened our fingers and held my hand smiling slightly.
"A-Annie?"I said but she didn't reply.Was she still asleep?Yeah, she definitely was.I still smiled at the simple gesture finally closing my eyes and letting sleep come over me.

The next week warriors were going to be taught just now to act around people there and basically what to do and not do.I was brought with them and introduced as an addition to the group on this mission.They were a little confused but didn't say anything.General walked in and started the lesson.There were three main rules.

Don't make friends or have any attachments with the devils.

Eliminate anyone and anything that is standing in your way if it's required for the missions to succeed.

Don't come back unless you've captured the titan.

These rules were a little harsh but we were going to follow them anyway.We were done with lessons after about an hour.Annie and I were walking around the town with Reiner, Bertholdt and Marcel.Pieck joined us later.That's what our preparation days were like.Today.Was finally the say to say goodbye to Liberio and go.Our families weren't allowed to accompany us to the boat so we were saying our goodbyes at home.For the first time since I arrived Annie's father hugged her.He said to her to keep fighting even if the whole world was against her and that no matter what he will always be on her side.She froze, shocked as I was.He let go and turned to me.
"I doubt she'll need it, but I want to to devote yourself to Annie and protect her no matter what."I looked at him shocked and bowed my head.
"I'm already doing that."I said.He smiled and patted my head.
"Make sure you both make it back home.No, promise me.Promise me you will return."he said.Annie turned to leave and I followed.Before we left she turned to leave and said.
"We will, dad."she continued going forward but I took one last look at Mister Leonhardt and saw a tear roll down his eye.He quickly whipped it and went inside when we went out of his sight.We walked in complete silence to the dock where we met with the rest of the warriors and some people who will be with us on the boat.General stood in front of us and spoke his last words with us before the boat sailed.A large crowd of people came to wish us luck.
"I wish you the best of luck.Return here and bring pride to your country Warriors!"he said as the boat took off.We all waved at people that came before going into our room's.Of course everyone had they're own room but I didn't even bother looking at mine and went straight with Annie.We layed down and Annie suggested we take a nap since we weren't arrive there soon.I was coming back to my homeland.Except it didn't feel like home anymore.All that was left off it were memories of my parents and that day.Then again I was kinda grateful it happed.Because if it didn't I probably wouldn't have ever met Annie.I thought as I drifted off to sleep.
