I stood in another house people stared at me.

"Do you talk?" Some guy asked in a loud voice.

I stared at the guy like he was an idiot.

"Leokadia is polish, isn't it?" The woman asked Kayden.

"Yeah."

"Do you speak English?" Another guy asked, shouting at me.

What was wrong with these guys?

"She's deaf," a third guy said.

The older guy put his hand on his face.

"Obviously, she speaks English," a fourth guy said in a weird voice.

"Ignore my idiot sons. They left their brains upstairs," the guy told me.

"Okay." I shrugged.

Everyone stared at me.

"What?"

"You speak?" A guy asked me.

"Yeah, and I know English." I walked over to the couch and sat down.

"I'll leave you to get acquainted." Kayden left

The guy and woman sat down as the four guys stared at me.

"I'm deaf," the guy told me.

"Cool," I said.

"Say what?" A guy asked.

"Hush, Rafe," the guy said.

"Well, she shouldn't make stupid comments."

"Ignore my sons. Wolves raised them."

The woman tapped the guy. I like the older couple.

The woman pointed at the four guys. "That's Pat, Romeo, Rafe, and Marty."

They wriggled their fingers at me.

"I'm Tori, and this is Elias."

I sat on the couch and pursed my lips.

"Where is your brother?" Elias asked.

"How the hell should we know? We're not his keeper," Pat said.

"You're a big help."

I looked at Pat and squinted my eyes. "What's wrong with your voice?"

Pat glowered at me.

"Patrick is deaf," Tori said.

"Okay."

"What's wrong with you? Do you always ask rude questions?" Rafe asked me.

"I never met someone who's deaf," I said.

"Well, you're in luck." Romeo smirked.

"And you're creepy."

Romeo's smirk disappeared.

"I like her," Marty said.

Everyone looked at Marty.

"Why don't I show you to a room?" Tori offered.

I stood up and followed Tori upstairs. She led me to a plain bedroom. I checked out the room.

"If you want to decorate it, you can. We don't use it."

I sighed.

"You can unpack and settle in. Are you hungry?"
