Well, this is a twist

I sat on the couch, staring at the older man in the chair.

"Wait. You're our grandfather?" Casper asked.

"Yes," a gruff voice said.

"How do we know for sure that you're our grandfather?"

"Because your mothers are my daughters. They're not great daughters, but they're mine."

"Well, I agree since my mother left me in a box."

The man stared at Casper.

"It's okay because my dad found me. He figured a bed was better than a box."

"I didn't know."

"No, of course not. Who would claim relations to a dumped child?"

"Casper," Tori said.

Casper stood up. "Tori, I accepted that my mother didn't want me. I don't need a reminder of it." Casper walked away.

Tori looked at the man. "I'm sorry."

"My daughter made a terrible decision. I've accepted it. I wish she would have talked to me."

"Or she made a decision that benefited the child," I said.

Tori and the man looked at me.

"Halinka and Bianka were good girls until they started hanging with the wrong crowd. My wife and I found them drinking and smoking. Halinka ran away from home and vanished. Then Bianka met someone. We didn't know either had gotten pregnant," the man said.

"But the paper ran an article about a woman abandoning a child in a local clothing store," Tori mentioned.

"Payton Gray covered the story. But he didn't include names or pictures of the people. I approved the story because it was important. I didn't know that it was my daughter. Then I read your piece on fostering," the man said.

"My mom isn't the nicest person," I said.

Tori and the man looked at me.

"She said I was a mistake." I shrugged as I played with my fingers.

"You weren't a mistake," the man said.

My face snapped in his direction.

"My wife and I would have taken you and Casper in a heartbeat. I wish my daughters would have talked to us. We missed years of not having either of you with us."

I stared at the man in awe. Then Rafe and Marty shoved Casper back into the room.

"Get your mitts off of me!" Casper told me.

"Well, stop being an ass!" Rafe said.

Tori placed her hand on her face.

"Why do I care what some old dude has to say?" Casper asked them.

"Listen to the man, you dink!" Marty said.

"You're dicks!" Casper said.

"So are you. Now get your ass back in there!" Rafe said.

Casper grumbled, trudged over to the couch, and plopped down. He looked at the man. "Why was my mom a bitch and left me in a box?"

"Casper!" Tori said.

Casper looked at Tori. "What? It's an honest question. I don't need to go to hell for lying."

The man chuckled. All of us looked at the man.
