After meeting Mr. and Mrs. Harper, I found them sweet people. I can see the resemblance between Elias and his dad. The brothers favor their dad with their dark hair and blue eyes.

No one mentioned my meeting with my mom, which I appreciated. I shouldn't have spent time searching for her. I blew air past my lips. Surprises would fill this weekend besides finding my mom.

I came downstairs to get something to drink and found the brothers at the kitchen table playing cards.

"Pay up," Romeo told Rafe.

I grabbed a pop and moseyed over to the table.

"You freaking cheat, Romeo." Rafe threw his cards down.

Val glanced at me and gestured at his brothers to move seats, then patted the seat.

I sat down next to Val. "What are you playing?"

Pat shuffled the cards. "Poker. Romeo cheats, and Rafe yells."

Romeo and Rafe shot Pat a look.

"Do you want to play?" Marty asked me.

"I don't know how to play poker."

"Here, I'll teach you. Pat, hand me the deck," Val said.

Pat handed Val the deck of cards. He explained the suits and the different hands. Then he explained the chip amounts, raising, bluffing, and folding. The game seems simple enough to play. Wrong.

We played several hands, and I lost at every hand.

"Remind me never to take you to a casino," Val said.

"In my defense, I never played poker."

"Still, you suck at poker."

I gave Val a playful shove. "Shut up."

Lucky for me, the guys didn't play for money since I don't have any. Val dealt cards to everyone.

"So, I was thinking," I said.

"That you'll lose another hand," Rafe said.

"Besides that. No, I would like to stay here."

The guys stopped and looked at me.

"Unless you don't want me here."

The guys glanced at each other.

"I was thinking you're staying with us." Val looked at me.

I leaned into him. "I was trying to be stealth."

"And you did a fantastic job."

"It wasn't over the top, was it?"

"No, you added a hint of nervousness to it."

We smiled at each other.

"Can we get back to the game?" Pat asked.

"Oh, right," I said.
