Dad called Jayden over to the house and explained about Kadia. Jayden arrived and spoke to Kadia with Ma and Dad present. Our parents banned us from the office. We stood in the hallway while they said in private.

"What do you think they are saying?" Romeo asked.

"They're discussing what happened," Pat said.

"Do you think it'll help?" Marty asked.

"I hope so. Why would someone hurt Leokadia?" Rafe asked.

"Because people are assholes," I said.

My brothers looked at me.

Jayden and I talked about different things. I wasn't ready to talk about what happened.

"Would it help if Elias and Tori left the room?" Jayden asked me.

I glanced at Elias and Tori. "Could Tori stay?"

Elias nodded and got up, leaving us alone.

"Okay, it's only you, me, and Tori. Whatever you say remains confidential," Jayden said.

I nodded, then started to tell him what happened at the Miller's house. Jayden listened as I spoke. Then he asked about my mom. I rubbed my hands together as I told him about meeting her. We talked about Val and his brothers.

After an hour, Jayden closed his notebook. "I would like to schedule counseling sessions once a week with you."

"Will you report this to the state?" I asked.

"No, but I must report it to the police."

My forehead creased.

"Leokadia, when someone suffers sexual abuse, we report it, so it doesn't happen again. I counsel many women and girls after they suffer a sexual assault. They need a safe place. Plus, it helps them to regain control of their lives."

"I didn't want to make him angry."

Jayden knitted his brows.

"He told me that he would hit me if I screamed."

"He was wrong and should have never hurt you. You did nothing wrong."

"Why does it feel like I did?"

"Because most victims think that way. The abuser leads them to believe it's their fault. It's not. Now, we'll work together."

I offered Jayden a small smile. Jayden scheduled me for counseling sessions once a week. It was a start.

We came out of Elias's office as the guys waited with bated breath. Elias and Tori walked Jayden out.

"Are you okay?" Pat asked me.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Can we do anything?" Romeo asked me.

"I don't know."

"We have your back. If anyone messes with you, we'll take care of them," Rafe said.

I nodded.

"You're family," Marty said.

That's when I broke. Val wrapped his arms around me and comforted me. I had no one care about me until I met the Harpers. It restores your faith in humanity.

Elias walked towards us. "Leokadia, you have a visitor."

I wiped my eyes and followed Elias into the living room to find Casper there.
