ten weeks
I woke up to soft whispers. "Please don't be mad at me." I heard Nick say, feeling his hand hug my hip. "I didn't mean to." He sighed and snuggled into my back. "You're perfect and I feel like you deserve so much better than me." He kissed the small of my back. "Our daughter is going to be gorgeous, taking after you, of course." His voice was so soft and when I opened my eyes for a split second the clock read three am, he thought I was asleep. I smiled and moved my hips back slowly. "I hope she will let me teach her basketball. Can you imagine that? A little girl with your hair and bright blue eyes and my nose and lips." He laughed quietly. "I can't wait until she's here." He kissed my shoulder. "You'll be a great mother or father of whatever the hell you want to be." He chuckled. "I love that about you, you're so brave. You don't care what other people think."

I smiled and opened my eyes again, reaching my hand behind me and grabbing his hand on my hip. "I love you." I whispered, my voice was so soft it almost couldn't be heard. I don't know if he heard it but he became quiet.

"I love you too." He said just as I was about to fall back asleep.

I woke up before him at seven, sliding off the bed and getting dressed. I wore a swimsuit instead of a bra and underwear, today was the day I would miss my period for the second time. I sat on the deck with my phone.

Something jumping in the chair in front of me made me look up. Willow sat there, her paws up on the railing as she looked at the water. "You like it here, Will?" I scratched her soft chin and she purred. "Yeah. Me too." I looked at the dark clouds that were moving in fast. "Let's go inside, baby." I pulled the shutters closed and locked the blue door. I straddled Nick's waist when he started waking up. "Good morning, love." I grinned.

He smiled and put his hands on my sides, pulling me down onto him. "I'm really sorry for being irresponsible yesterday." He said, running his hand through my hair. "I shouldn't have let her give me a drink."

"It's okay. Just don't do it again."

"I won't, I promise." He kissed my forehead.

"The clouds look really really dark so I closed the windows."

"Thank you, gorgeous."

A few minutes later there was a clap of thunder and Willow jumped out of the chair she'd curled up in, running under the bed. "Aw, sweetie." I held my hand out over the bed and felt her wet nose touch it. "Come here." I led her out and patted the bed. She just stared at me. "No? Okay."

The rain was loud on the roof. I got up and turned on the lamp in the corner of the room. "Can you hand me my phone?" Nick asked, sitting up.

I sat in between his legs, watching as he texted his mom.

Mom

I smiled at him and kissed his cheek. "What if there's a storm when I'm in labor?" I asked quietly after a moment.

"There won't be."

"How do you know?"

"I just do. We'll be completely safe."

I leaned back against his chest. "Okay."

The storm was loud and long, lasting two days. In those two days my boobs had become bigger and sore.

A week later we were at a doctors office right next to the airport, well, down the street a couple blocks. "I'm Rose, nice to meet you too." She smiled and shook my hand.

"She's started to kick a lot." I explained.

She nodded and hummed. I heard her heartbeat for the first time, it was amazing. I knew she was in me before of course but like, she's living, she has a heartbeat. "Swimming is actually really good when you're pregnant, try to limit it to ninety minutes and anywhere from three to five days only. You'll want to be exercising a lot, that doesn't mean I want you to run a marathon, just try and get at least two hours of activity in your day, whether that's walking or swimming or anything." She talked about what to expect during labor and delivery and gave me a quick run down of how to feed a baby, telling me she'd tell me more closer to the time she's born.

We went to dinner after.
