Thank god my stomach had shrunk almost all the way, I could fit into my green flannel mini dress without my stomach being noticeable. I put on my converse and grabbed Myla, quickly dressing her in orangish pink romper and a headband to match. I picked up my yellow purse decorated with leather daisies that Nick got me and put two bottles in it along with a bunch of diapers and a change of clothes for Myla. "Nick are you ready?" I called from downstairs, grabbing my phone off the dining table and putting it in my purse. I slipped a binky in Myla's mouth while listening to Nick come downstairs. "Hey." I grinned and put my hand in the back pocket of his jeans, tilting my head up to kiss him. He looked good, it's the first time I've seen him dress up in a little while.
"Wow." He stepped back and looked me up and down. "You look absolutely stunning, baby."
My cheeks flushed. "Let's go."
He cradled Myla in his arms, and talked about how we should paint her room tomorrow. "This is him, actually. Karl, Nick, this is my mom and dad." Sarah said, her eyes widening at me and Nick before turning back to her parents.
"Nice to meet you." I smiled and held my hand out.
"Your name is Karl?" The woman asked.
"Yep." I said as she shook it. Nick took his hand off the small of my back. "Why?"
"Isn't that a boy name?" She let go. "I mean you're a girl, aren't you? It would be weird if two men were together." She pointed at Myla and my tits.
Sarah stomped on my foot. "Yep, my parents are just... Weird I guess."
She hummed and nodded before turning to Nick. "You two have a beautiful baby, what's her name?"
"Myla." Nick answered, obviously annoyed about her misgendering me. He looked at me and I shrugged it off, smiling. It didn't matter that much, she didn't know.
"How old is she?"
"She's a week and two days."
Delilah came through the doorway. "Babe-."
"And this is Delilah." Sarah said loudly. "She's my roommate, the one I told you guys about. Remember?"
"Ah, yes. We thought you might've been a homosexual because you talked about her so much."
I faked a laugh and everyone else played along. "What the hell are you thinking?" Delilah asked as we all went backstage.
"Please don't yell. I thought they knew." There were tears in her eyes.
I hugged her. "Don't." I warned Delilah quietly. Sarah was a fragile thing, she could break easily. As the curtain was closing when me and Nick left I saw Delilah hug her and kiss her forehead, her jaw flexed.
"Well this has already been eventful." Nick said as we piled into a booth, music was playing over the speakers of the bar and Nick pulled soundproof head phones out of my purse, putting them on Myla. "How are you?"
"I'm good." I smiled and took a sip of his beer, pulling a face after. "I haven't drunk in so long."
Nick smiled and kissed me. "And that's incredible."
Me and him split his beer, it was good to feel normal again, to be in a normal setting, to be with my husband. Right before I went up on stage I took out a bottle and showed Nick. He smiled and kissed me. "Good luck, baby."
I grinned and made my way through the crowd, sidestepping men with their hands held out toward me. After fixing the microphone and double checking with Sarah that the speakers were working, Delilah gave me a thumbs up. "Hi, my name is Karl Jacobs, I'm from Santa Fe, New Mexico and I'll be singing you three songs tonight."
