Don't want to find I've lost it all

Too scared to have no one to call

So can we just pretend?"





Taylor's POV

The closer I looked at the marked date on my calendar, the more I thought about how this contract isn't some joke I could just take back.

I'm really gonna die on the 2nd of March.

I heard the sound of the doorbell ring. Thinking it was the guy I slapped earlier, I went to the door angrily, with the huge possibility of doing it again.

I opened the door and it wasn't him.

It was River.

"Taylor!" He raised his arms that were lifting paper bags of chicken tenders. "I got your favorite." He raised his brows playfully. "Look! I bought a lot!"

I couldn't help but look at him sadly. I remembered Doom's words. "Then someone will die instead of you. The person you love at that moment." His voice lingered in my mind.

River put his arms down and frowned from my unexpected reaction. "What's wrong?"

"I-"

"Oh, I took care of the insurance matter! It turns out...the owner of the rental car company was my classmate's brother's distant aunt's fourth cousin...Eh- Anyway, it was someone I knew, so I got it resolved." He explained. "It's true!"

Not even listening to what he just said, I stepped forward and hugged him tightly. His arms were still occupied so he couldn't exactly hug back, but I didn't care.

"S-sis, what's wrong?...Were you drinking?" I didn't say anything back. "D-did you plan a new way to kill me? T-Taylor?" He swallowed nervously.
