Phil pushes me onto the floor and laughs in my face. “Fag!” He yells. He punches and kicks me. I shouldn’t have told him I was gay. He punches me again before my eyes shoot open and I jolt upright.

Was it just a dream? I look around my room and notice that I’m sweating and crying. I slap away the tears and try to forget about it. I’m definitely not telling Phil - or anyone else.

When the bell rings Friday afternoon, I get super excited. I’m going to see Phil tonight. I call him on the way home, but he doesn’t pick up. Maybe his phone is off. He left me a text while I was in class. ‘I’ve got an afterschool detention, but I’ll meet you at 4.’ I’m left wondering why, but it doesn’t matter.

I walk home to see my Mum passed out on the couch. I go upstairs and take a shower. I wash my hair twice, making sure it’s perfect for when I see Phil. I get out and change into black, skinny jeans, my favourite black t-shirt with a white circle in the middle. I straighten my hair and spend 20 minutes fixing it.

When I’m finally finished, I check the time. I still have an hour, so I log onto twitter. ‘Finally meeting @AmazingPhil again tonight. Wish me luck.’ Within seconds, my tweet gets hundreds of comments, favourites and re-tweets. I check my followers and I now have 10k. I check my YouTube subscribers and I have 15 000. Is it normal to gain that fast? I see a comment from Phil, ‘Can’t wait.’ I reply to some fans’ tweets. Fans. It’s amazing to think that I actually have fans. I stand outside and wait for Phil.
