Soft spot (noun)To show vulnerability towards something or someone.
"They both have a soft spot"
Thursday evening, 6pm. Zephyr decided to hang out with one of his other friends. They both rode their bikes up to a long walking bridge.
It was pretty empty, there were about 2 or 3 other people in the distance. "Wait!" Zephyr's friend said out of breath.
"We can sit down for a bit if you want." Zephyr replied as he saw him out of breath. His friend nodded, "I bought my camera," Zephyr said. "Tell me if you see something interesting enough for a picture."
The guy looked at him, "Me."
Zephyr chuckled, "No."
Both went to sit on a little brown wooden bench in the middle of the bridge, placing their belongings off to the side Zephyr's friend sat down first. "Hey, Zephyr.." His friend said he tried to catch his breath.
"Hm?" Zephyr turned around looking at him.
"Why do you hang out with that freak?" His friend said gazing at the river, too scared to make full eye contact.
Zephyr deepened his tone. "What freak?"
"Ya know, that new kid. Celeste I think." He muttered.
Zephyr was on the edge of breaking, calming himself he asked, "What's so weird about him?" There was a sudden pause between the two.
"You don't think he's weird? Touching shit that's not even there, he doesn't even talk unless he's whispering to himself..I heard that he watched his parents die and didn't even try to help. He's a fucking psychopath. If you like him, you're weird-"
Before he could finish his sentence Zephyr got up from his place, anger dripping down his bones, flowing with his blood "Shut up, you don't even know him." He practically yelled.
"Dude chill-" the other guy tried to calm him down.
Zephyr looked him dead in the eye then dragged him by his collar off of the bench "I'm sick and tired of people like you." he snapped as the guy shivered.
He threw him on the ground and rolled up his sleeves, "Plus, you talk too much." Zephyr said "I'll break your jawbone so no one has to listen to your annoying ass."
"You're overreacting!" The guy exclaimed, trying to crawl away from Zephyr.
"Am not. You have no idea what it feels like to be left out you dick." With that Zephyr punched him, making his "friend" have a black eye and a red nose
"Zephyr!" Someone called from behind. Zephyr glanced over to find a frail figure, his blonde hair flowing in the wind.
"Celeste?!" Zephyr exclaimed, surprised to see him.
Celeste walked forward "If you go any further you'll get in trouble.."
"But-"
"Do you want to get in trouble?"
Zephyr got up, shook his head and got up, clicking his tongue. "Lucky-" he murmured under his breath.
"Weird ass-" The guy on the floor yelled as his nose started to bleed. Zephyr opened his mouth but
Celeste spoke first "If you know he has anger issues, why the hell would you piss him off, certainly you are the weird one here."
There was a blank moment in all three of the boys' minds.
Celeste walked away, Zephyr followed "Did you just-" his sudden change in personality was quite the surprise.
With that Celeste walked away, leaving Zephyr to follow. okay
Celeste didn't look back. "I have a headache again. Can we go to the park?"
He asked. "Sure-" Zephyr answered, confused as ever.
Once they reached they made themselves comfortable over the building. It was almost 8 on the dot and the stars seemed to be shining brighter than ever.
Zephyr didn't know why he acted out like that he was slowly growing a soft spot for Celeste, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing but he didn't think it was good either.
"Why were you fighting?" Celeste inquired as both boys had their eyes exploring the sky.
"Nothing," Zephyr answered.
"Okay." Celeste sighed.
Apart from crickets nothing else could be heard, as both of them say in the pure moonlight, a sense of comfort filled up their surroundings, that was the moment when Zephyr pulled out his camera and gently clicked a photo of Celeste staring at the sky.
