Absence (noun)
the state of being away from a place or person.
"The letter had arrived during his absence."
Friday morning, The alarm clock beeped as the blinds opened, revealing the bright rays of light. "Wake up!" Zephyr's mother yelled and she snatched the blanket from over him.
"I'm up." Zephyr acknowledged as he leaned up and sat against his headboard. He yawned awake.
"Oh, I got an email from the school saying it's spirit week, so make sure to wear their merch!" His mother exclaimed in a preppy voice.
She had always liked the thought of dressing up in school merch, for spirit week. It wasn't necessarily the design or the clothing itself.
The raven haired boy stepped out of bed and put on a hoodie with the school's logo in the middle of it.
He slipped on black school pants then walked to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
Seconds go by, the bristles scrubbed his almost completely white teeth.
Minutes go by, he's stuck staring at himself in the mirror thinking about every little thing.
Time had passed quickly as he stood in front of the mirror.
Time.
The one thing nobody can get back. Where does it go?
"Hey, Are you okay?" Zephyr's mother asked.
"O-oh yeah." He snapped back into reality.
Zephyr finished brushing his teeth, grabbing his backpack and walking to the kitchen. "Can you take me to school this time?" He asked as he grabbed water from the fridge.
"Sure." His mother answered. They get into the car, Zephyr sat in the passenger's seat, his mother switches the gear shift to drive. Exiting the premises, he looks out the foggy car window.
Closing his eyes letting the music in his headphones fill his ears.
Tap.
Pat.
Push.
Shove.
"Zephyr, wake up, we're here!!" His mother shakes him. She slides her hand across his body and opens the car door, unbuckling his seatbelt.
She shoves him out of the car, gently tossing a lunch bag on top. "Have a great day! Muah love you." She exclaims, closing the car door and driving off.
Zephyr gets up from the ground and puts the lunch in his backpack, then walks to the entrance. He walked down the hall, and to his locker.
He stuffed his backpack in his locker then slammed the locker door shut. Sprinting to class, Zephyr was looking around for Celeste.
His eyes gazed at every square foot of the hall.
Reaching the classroom, Zephyr makes his way to his seat, hopeful he'll see Celeste later despite not seeing him then.
Laying his head flat on the desk, eyelids getting heavy, Zephyr falls asleep ignoring the chatters around the room.
"Ayo they're fighting!" A random girl yells. Zephyr looks up surprised it isn't him fighting. Just a guy and a girl, it seems like people actually care.
"You can't hit a girl!" Another guy cursed as he tried pulling the injured boy away from the girl laying on the floor, trying to defend herself.
'Yeah. I'm out.' Zephyr thought to himself as he got up to leave.
